SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This document covers three types of adjustable

2、carrying slings. made of webbing with hardware attached. 1.2 Classification. 1.2.1 Types. Slings shall be of the following types as specified (see 6.2). Type I - General Purpose Type II - ST-19-A Type III - 19-3/4 Inches Long 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS * 2.1 Government documents. Unless otherwise speci

In the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein, the text of this document shall take precedence. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3:l .Guide samples. Sampl

13、es of the end item, when furnished, are solely for guidance and information to the manufacturer (see 6.3). Variation from this document may appear in the sample, in which case this document shall govern. 3.2 First article. When specified a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4

14、.3, 6.2, and 6.4). 3.3 Materials. (See 6.6). 3.3.1 Webbing. I. * 3.3.11 Webbing for type I sling. The 2-inch webbing shall be cotton conforming to type IIa, class 4 of MIL-W-530, or as an alternate, the webbing shall be polypropylene conforming to type IIa, class 4, of MIL-W-44049. The webbing shall

15、 be dyed color Olive Drab 7. 3.3.1.2 Webbing for type II sling. The webbing shall be dyed O.D. 7 and shall conform to type III, class 4, 2-inch width of MIL-W-530. 3.3.1.3 Webbing for type III sling. The webbing shall be dyed O.D. 7 and shall conform to type III, class 4, 1-inch width of MIL-W-530.

16、4 .:- i. 3 Licensed by Information Handling ServicesMIL-S-16986 3.3.2 Thread, polyester. The polyester thread for the slings shall be dyed O.D. S-1 C.A. 66022 and shall conform to type I, class 1, sub-class A, size FF of V-T-285, The dyed thread shall show fastness to weathering equal ta or better t

17、han the standard sample. When no standard sample is available, the thread shall show “good“ fastness to weathering. 3.3.3 Metal components for type I sling. 3.3.3.1 Loop, slide. The slide loop for the type I sling shall be brass or steel and shall conform to class 1 or class 3, style 2, size 2 inch,

18、 construction A, of MIL-L-3851, 3.3.3.2 Loop, strap. The strap loop for the type I sling shall be brass or steel wire and shall conform to type I or III, style- E, 2-1/16 by 1/4 inch, of MIL-L-11075, 3.3.3.3 Snaphook. The snaphooks for type I sling shall be brass or steel wire and shall conform to d

19、ash No. CWBC3 or SWZE3 of MIL-S-43770/1. 3.3.4 Metal components for type II sling. 3.3.4.1 Loop, slide, brass. The slide loop for the type II sling shall be brass, 2-1/4 inch, conforming to North and Judd Manufacturing Company No. 4883 or equal (see 4.3.1.1). contractor shall submit the item to the

21、orming to North and Judd Manufacturing Company No. 017 or Covert Manufacturing Company No. 017 or equal (see 4.3.1.1). Prior to the use of the “or equal“ item, the contractor shall submit the item to the contracting officer with supporting data for approval. The finish shall consist of electroplated

22、 zinc followed by a phosphate treatment and bake enameling. The phosphate zinc plate shall be 13 um thick conforming to ASTM B 633. After phosphating and drying, surfaces shall be given a finish of black enamel conforming to type II of TT-E-529, shall level out to a continuous uniform film without o

23、bjectionable orange peel, wrinkles, drops, streaks or area of no film. The coating 3.3.5 Metal components for type III sling. 3.3.5.1 Buckle. The 2-bar tongueless buckle shall conform to type II, style 1, class 1 or class 3, size 1 inch of MIL-B-543. 3.3.5.2 Clip. The end clip shall conform to type

24、I, class 1 or class 2, size 1 inch of MIL-C-496. 3.4 Construction. The construction shall conform in all respects to the drawings listed in section 2 and as specified herein. 4 Licensed by Information Handling ServicesMIL-S-1698G 3.4.1 Stitching, machine. All stitching shall conform to type 301 of F

25、ED-STD-751, with 6 to 8 stitches per inch. 3.4.1.1 Automatic stitching. Any of the stitching operat.ions cited in this document may be performed with an automatic machine provided the requirements for stitch pattern, stitches per inch, size and types of thread are met; and at least three tying, over

26、lapping or backstitches are used to secure the ends of stitching. 3.4.1.2 Type 301 stitching. Ends of all stitching shall be backstitched or backtacked not less than 1/2 inch except where ends are caught in other seams and stitching. loose or tight stitching and the lock will be imbedded in the mate

27、rials sewed. Thread tensions shall be maintained so that there will be no 3.4.1.2.1 Repairs of type 301 stitching, Repairs of type 301 stitching shall be as follows: a. When thread breaks or bobbin run-outs occur during sewing, the- stitching shall be repaired by restarting the stitching a minimum o

28、f 3/4 inch back of the end of stitching. L/ b. Thread breaks or two or more consecutive skipped or runoff stitches noted during inspection of the item (in-process or end item), shall be repaired by overstitching. The stitching shall start a minimum of 3/4 inch in back of the defective area, continue

29、 over the defective area, and continue a minimum of 3/4 inch beyond the defective area onto the existing stitching. the defective stitching without dama ing the materials, and c. Loose or excessively tight stitching shall be repaired by removing restitching in the required manner. - H/ - l/ When mak

30、ing the above repairs, the ends of stitching are not required to be backstitched. 3.4.1.3 Thraad ends. All thread ends shall be trimmed to 1/4 inch maximum length. 3.4.2 Setting of end clip (type III sling). The webbing shall be inserted the full depth of the clip. The clip shall be securely attache

31、d without cutthg the webbing and the webbing shall be flat at the pointof entry. 3.4.3 Wax dipping of webbing end (type III sling). Thecut end of the cotton webbing not enclosed in end clip shall be dipped 1/4 inch full width minimum into a melted mixture of approximately 50 percent beeswax and 50 p

32、ercent paraffin. Temperature of the melted mixture shall be 180 - + 20 F. * 3.4.4 Fusing of ends of polypropylene webbing (type I sling). All ends of polypropylene webbing shall be fused. The apparatus used to fuse the webbing ends shall be capable of providing sufficient heat to provide a smooth ed

Fusing of the 3.5 Marking, 3:5.1 Marking on webbing. The identification

34、marking shall be applied in the location shown on the applicable drawing and shall conform to kype IV, class 5 of DDD-L-20. required, shall be applied in the size characters and the location indicated on the applicable drawing, and shall conform to type IV, class 9 of LiDD-L-20. Fastness of class 9

35、marking shall be as specified for class 5 marking. The marking “US“ for type I or “ST-19-A“ for type II, as 3.5.2 Alternate marking on polypropylene webbing (type I sling), A type VI label of DDD-L-20 may be used in lieu of direct item marking. The label color shall be medium green and the marking s

36、hall conform to the type I sling marking requirements specified in 3.5.1, The label shall not be wider than, or any portion of it allowed to extend beyond the edge of the webbing which it is to be attached to. 3.6 Workmanshie. The finished and assembled sling shall conform to the quality of product

37、established by this document. not exceed the applicable acceptable quality levels. Occurrence of defects shall 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all ins

38、pection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserve

39、s the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the document where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Certificate of compliance. When certificates of compliance are submitted, the Government reserves the right to

40、 check test such items to determine the validity of the certification. 4.2 Classification of inspection. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. b. First article inspection (see 4.3). Quality confornance inspection (see 4.4). 4.3 First article inspection. When a fi

41、rst article is required (see 6.2), it shall be examined for the defects specified in 4.4.3 and 4.4.4. 42、d, sampling for inspection shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-105. 4.4.1 Component and material inspection. In accordance with 4.2, components and materials shall be inspected in accordance with all requirements of referenced documents unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified, or qual

43、ified in this document or applicable purchase document. 4.4.1.1 Certification. The contractor shall furnish a certificate of compliance for the requirements specified in3.3.4.1 and 3.3.4.2. 4.4.2 In-process inspection (types I and 11). Inspection shall be performed prior to fabrication of the type I

44、 or II sling to determine compliance with cut length requirement. Any cut length of webbing not within the specified tolerance shall be classified as a defect. be expressed in units of unassembled slings. unassembled sling.
