14、nch on cover. The chain portion of the stitching shall not appear on the outside of the liner or cover Bartacks shall be 1/2 inch long with 1/8-inch bight and shall contain 28 stitches. Bartacking shall be free of thread breaks and shall contain no loose s t i tching 3.3.1.2 Thread breaks. Thread br

15、eaks in stitching shall be overstitched, on each side of break, not less than 1 inch at each break on stitch type 301; not less than 3/4 inch at each break on stitch type 304, 503, 504, or 505; and not less than 1 1/2 inches at each break on stitch type 401. Thread breaks on type 401 stitching may b

16、e overstitched with type 301 stitching. Bartacking shall be free of thread breaks. 3.3.1.3 Stitching ends, type 301. The ends of type 301 stitching shall be overstitched not less than 1 inch, except where ends are turned under in a hem or held down by other stitching. on stitch patterns such as box,

17、 box with cross-stitch, “W“ stitching or straight line tacking, 3 or more tying, overlapping, or back stitches shallbe used to secure the ends. Two or more consecutively skipped stitches occurring in type 301 stitching shall be overstitched not less than 1 inch on each side of skips. overstitched not less than 1 1/2 inches on each side of skip. 19、ched with type 301 stitching. Any skipped stitch in type 401 stitching shall be 3.3.1.5 Lubrication. The labels shall be proportionate copies of the drawings, as reproduced from the glossy prints of the drawings furnished by the contracting activity. size of the lab

27、4.3 Special markings. The letters “US“ on the tent liner and cover and the special markings on the cover shall conform to type IV, class 9, in the size characters and in the locations shown on the drawings. shall be clearly legible after subjection to accelerated weathering. Class 9 markings * 3.5 W

28、orkmanship. Cloth components shall be clean and free of holes, cuts, tears, or cloth defects such as multiple floats or broken or missing yarns. Webbing and tape shall not have frayed or scalloped edges, and rope components shall be free of cuts or breaks. Thread tension shall be maintained so that

29、there will be no loose stitching, and seam allowances shall be maintained so that no run-Offs, twists, pleats, or open seams result. Care shall be taken in sewing to see that there shall be no needle chews. All thread ends shall be trimmed to 1/2 inch or less. Metal components shall be free of burrs

30、, sharp edges, or corroded areas and shall not be broken or malformed. Reinforcement bands may be spliced as shown on applicable drawings. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible fo

31、r the perf ormance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Gover

32、nment. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the document where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. * 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items must meet all requirements of sections

33、 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this document shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. absence of any inspection requirements in the document shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of assuring that all products or supplies submitted t

34、o the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling in quality conformance does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to acceptance of defective material. The 4.2 Classification of inspec

35、tion. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. b. First article inspection (see 4.3). When a first article is required (see 6.2), it shall be examined for defects listed in tables IV and V. any visual defect or any dimension not within the specified requirements shall be cause for rejection of the first article. The presence of 4.4 Quality conf

37、ormance inspection. Unless otherwise specified, sampling for inspection shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-105. 4.4.1 Component and material inspection. In accordance with 4.1, components and materials shall be inspected and tested in accordance with all the requirements of referenced doc

38、uments unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified, or qualified in this document or applicable purchase document. 4.4.2 In-process examination. Examination shall be made to determine that the following are as specified: a. There shall be no lubrication of polyester thread prior to or during sewing

39、 operations for compliance with 3.3.1.5. b. Holes punched to receive grommets are in compliance with 3.3.2. Whenever nonconformance is noted, correction shall be made to the affected items and to the process. 4.4.3 End item inspection. The tent liners shall be examined for visual and dimensional def

40、ects. liners with covers or covers only, as applicable, offered for inspection at one time. cover or cover only.
