It is subject to modification. However, pending its promulgation as a coordinated Military specification, it may

3、 be used in procurement. 1. SCOPE 1.1 This specification covers a base- mounted, electric-motor-driven, water purifi- cation unit capable of producing potable water at a rate of 3,000 gph. 2. 16、ntain a constant head over the orifice during the entire discharge period over the collecting funnel. 3.6.1.5 Collecting funnel. The collecting funnel shall prevent any slurry that flows into the funnel from the measuring cups from splashing out or overflowing from the funnel. The funnel shall he pr

17、ovided with a 1-inch NPT internally threaded connec- tion provided with corrosion-resisting helical inserts. 3.6.1.6 Rate-of-discharge controller. The rate of discharge from each compartment shall be controlled individually by the ad- justment of a shield over the collecting fun- nel. The shield sha

18、ll be linked to a lever out- side the tank, and the lever shall move over a scale marked to indicate the percentage of the collection funnel left uncovered by the shield. The percentage of maximum flow be- ing discharged is equal to the percentage of the collection funnel opening left uncov- ered by

19、 the shield. The opening shall be manually adjustble from zero to 100 per- cent. The scale shall be marked from zero to 100 percent in increments of 10 percent. The maximum rate of discharge through the oiitlet shall be 210 ml/min. The rate of dis- charge through the outlet shall be within plus or m

20、inus 5 percent of the scale setting and shall not be affected by the speed at which the cups rotate. 3.6.1.7- Sa.fety clutch. The safety clutch slid1 operate on friction so as to slip at a torque of 26 ft-lbs. 3.6.1.8 Filling connections. The filling con- nections shall be 1-inch NPT internally thre

21、aded connections, shall be located on the ends of i!? tank, and shall be above the high-level mark of each compartment. 3.6.2 Solution fceder assembly. The solu- tion feeder assembly shall consist of two dinphixgin pumps operated from one elec- tric irioto by means of a gear-rplnction mechanism, rec

22、iprocating mechanisms, and priming levers. Each pump shall have its MIGW-0052027C (MO) own reciprocating mechanism and priming lever and shall operate independently of the other, The gear-reduction mechanism shall reduce the speed of the motor so that the reciprocating mechanisms operate the pumps a

23、t approximately 12 strokes per minute. The gear-reduction mechanism and motor shall be contained in a cast iron or cast aluminum housing and shall operate in an oil bath. The top of the housing shall contain no de- pressions that will collect any solution spilled on the feeder. The pumps shall be mo

24、unted outside and on top of the housing, The prim- ing lever and the connection between the priming lever and reciprocating mechanism shall permit the stroke length of the pump to be adjustable to provide infinite variation of feed rate from 1/2 gph to 21/(2 gph without stopping the pump. Each primi

25、ng lever shall be equipped with a scale for use with a calibration curve (see 3.6.3). The scale shall be readable at any angle from 30 to 90 de- grees to the horizontal and at a distance of 18 inches when the feeder is viewed with pumps to right of viewer. The rate of dis- charge shall be within plu

26、s or minus 5 per- cent of indicated rate at any scale setting. The solution feeder assembly shall be pro- vided with a 125-volt, 15-ampere, 3-pole, 3-wire midget locking-type male receptacle. The feeder shall be suitable for mounting on a flat, horizontal base with the mounting bolts inserted from t

27、he top. 3.6.2.1 Pzcmps. Each pump shall have a pumping head of molded hard rubber and a diaphragm of rubber-coated cloth riiolded to a shape that will insure freedom from strain. 31、have a total efiective open area of not less than 0.5 square inch. 3.6.3 Calibration charts, Calibration charts covering the full range of feed rates for a flow of 50 gpin shall be furnished for each feeder. Each chart shall be Rot less than 6 by 6 inches nor more than 8 by 8inclies. The charts shal

32、l be attached to the front of the electrical control cabinet. The abscissa s1i:tll have two scales: one in ppm and one in inil/inin. The ordinate shall be in feeder scale readings. Each chai-t shall be identified as to respective feeder, slurry, and solution concentration, and each curve as to respe

Short shut-down periods for inspection, lu- brication, or functional changes will be per- mitted provided normal operation is resumed within 5 minutes. Upon completion of the last backwashing, shut down and examine the unit. R

35、emove the pumping heads of the solution feeder and examine for damage. Remove the filter dome and examine the elements for damage. 4.5.11.6 Criteria for failure. Evidence of any one of the following conditions shall constitute failure of this test: (a) Leaks at any welded seam or any connection. (b)

36、 Discharge rate of chemical feeders not as specified in 3.6.1.6 and 3.6.2. (c) Light, buzzer, or any switch fails to operate. (d) Low-level alarm fails to operate within the water-level limits. The pilot pack shall be examined in accordance with 4.8.1. Presence of one or more defects shall be

For the purpose of inspection, a completed pack prepared for shipment shall be considered a unit of prod- uct. 4.7.2 Sampling. Sampling for examination shall be in accordance with Standard MIL- 4.7.3 Examinati

40、on. Samples selected in ac- cordance with 4.7.2 shall be examined as specified in 4.8.1. AQL shall be 2.5 percent defective. STD-105. 4.8 Inspection procedure. 4.8.1 Examination. The preservation, pack- aging, packing, and marking shall be ex- amined for the following defects: 114. Materials not as

41、specified for levels A and B. 115. Preservative applied to surfaces which will come in contact with chemical solutions and water, except waste water. 116. Electrical wiring system not sealed with tape as specified. 117. Float switch not sealed, blocked, and secured to prevent move- ment. 118. Gate v

42、alves and drain cocks closed. 119. Boxes and chest not secured to the base to prevent movement or damage. 120. Strapping not zinc coated for level A. 121. Any overpack missing. 122. Marking illegible, incorrect, or 123. Effluent launder not blocked and 4.8.2 Tests. The railcar test method shall be p

43、erformed on the pilot pack. The base- mounted unit (3 sections) shall be securely blacked to prevent movement on the car and tie2 Gown to prevent tirping. Antiskid plates shdl not be used for this test. The car shall be humped or shunted to cause impact at not less than 10 miles per hour, driliing a

PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Pilot pack. The pilot pack is defined as a preproduction pack which will be id

46、entical to the pack which the supplier will subse- quently produce in fulfillment of the con- tract. A pilot pack shall be made, examined, and subjected to the tests specified to deter- mine conformance to the preservation, pack- aging, packing, and marking requirements. Approval of the pilot pack s

47、hall not relieve the supplier of his obligation to preserve, package, pack, and mark the water purifica- tion units in accordance with this specifica- tion. Any changes or deviations of production packs from the approved pilot pack shall be subject to the approval of the contract- ing officer. 5.2 P

48、reservation and packaging. Preserva- tion and packaging shall be level A or C, as specified (see 6.2). 5.2.1 Level A. 5.2.1.1 Caution. Contact preservatives specified herein shall not be applied to any surface which will come in contact with chemical solutions, slurries, or water, except waste water

49、. 5.2.1.2 Preservatives. Surfaces of compo- nents and parts of the water purific a t ion unit requiring the application of a contact preservative in accordance with Specification MIGP-116, except as specified in 5.2.1.1, shall be coated with preservatives conform- ing to the applicable specifications listed in and shall be applied in accordance with Specification MILI-116.
