SS-A-666b October 16, 1968 MaVs- FEDERAL SPECIFICATION ASPHALT, PETROLFUM (BUILT-UP ROOFING, WATERPROOFING, AND DAMPPROOFING) This specification was approved by the Commissioner, Federal supply Service, Gen

2、eral Services Administration, for the use of all Federal agencies. 1. SCOPE AM) CLASSIFICATION 1.1 Scope, This specification covers petroleum asphalt for use as hot-cement and mopping coat in the construction of built-up roof coverings, in dampproofing, and in the construction of a membrane system o

3、f waterproofing. 1.2 Classification. 1.2.1 Asphalt shall be of the following types, as specified (see 6.2): Type I - For roofs with inclines not exceeding 1 inch per foot. II - For roofs with inclines between 1/2 and 3 inches per foot. III - For roofs with inclines between 1/2 and 6 inches per foot.

4、 IV - For roofs with relatively steep slopes and generally in areas with relatively V - Waterproofing, dampproofing, below ground level, at moderate temperature. VI - Waterproofing, dampproofing, above ground level, temperatures up to 125OF. VI1 - Waterproofing, dampproofing, above ground level, ver

REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Types I, II, III, and I

Unless otherwise specified, the asphalt shall be packed in quantities as specified (see 6.2), in a close-fitting metal drum conforming to PPP-D-705, and PPP-D-711, type I, as applicable. 5.1.2 Level C, The asphalt shall be packed to insure carrier accepta

22、nce and safe delivery to des- tination at lowest rates. Rules. Containers and packing shall comply with Uniform Freight Classification 5.2 Marking. 5.2.1 agencies. The suggested use for each type is not absolute, and overlapping of fields of use may occur between adjoining types,

24、depending upon the kind and occupancy of the buildihg involved; the kind of roof employed; the presence, absence, or thickness of any insulation; the specific material and construction used in the roofing membrane itself; and the temperatures and other climatic conditions to which the roofing may be

25、 subjected in service. Type I - Suitable for use on roofs with inclines up to 1 inch per foot. Type II - Suitable for use on roofs with inclines from 1/2 up to 3 inches per foot. Type III - Suitable for use on inclines from 1/2 to 6 inches per foot. Type IV - Suitable for use on roofs with relativel
