Scope1.1 This specification2covers nickel-alloy steel plates in-tended primarily for welded pressure vessels.1.2 Plates under this specification are available with fourstrength levels and two nickel compositions as follows:GradeNominal Ni

General Requirements and Ordering Information3.1 Material supplied to this material specification shallconform to Specification A 20/A 20M. These requirementsoutline the test

9、ing and retesting methods and procedures,permissible variations in dimensions and mass, quality andrepair of imperfections, marking, loading, etc.3.2 Specification A 20/A 20M also establishes the rules forthe basis of purchase that should be complied with whenpurchasing material to this specificatio

10、n.3.3 In addition to the basic requirements of this specifica-tion, certain supplementary requirements are available whenadditional control, testing, or examination is required to meetend use requirements. These include:3.3.1 Vacuum treatment,3.3.2 Additional or special tension testing,3.3.3 Impact

15、shall prevail.4. Materials and Manufacture4.1 Steelmaking PracticeThe steel shall be killed andshall conform to the fine grain size requirement of Specifica-tion A 20/A 20M.5. Heat Treatment5.1 All plates shall be thermally treated as follows:5.1.1 All plates of Grades A, B, D, and E shall be normal

16、-ized except as permitted by 5.1.1.1.5.1.1.1 If approved by the purchaser for GradesA, B, D, andE, cooling rates faster than air cooling are permissible forimprovement of the toughness, provided the plates are subse-quently tempered at not less than 1100F 595C for not lessthan12 h.5.1.2 All plates o

17、f Grade F shall be heat treated by heatinginto the austenitic range, quenching in water, and tempering atnot less than 1100F 595C for not less than12 h.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The steel shall conform to the chemical requirementsshown in Table 1 unless otherwise modified in accordance withSuppleme

18、ntary Requirement S17, Vacuum Carbon-DeoxidizedSteel, in Specification A 20/A 20M.7. Mechanical Properties7.1 Tension Test RequirementsThe material as representedby the tension test specimens shall conform to the requirementsshown in Table 2.7.1.1 For plates that have been heat treated in accordance

19、with 5.1.1.1 or 5.1.2 and have a nominal thickness of34 in. 20mm and under, the 112-in. (40-mm) wide rectangular speci-men may be used for the tension test, and the elongation maybe determined in a 2-in. 50-mm gage length that includes thefracture and that shows the greatest elongation. When thisspe

20、cimen is used, the elongation shall be not less than 23 %.7.2 Impact Test Requirements:7.2.1 Plates of Grades A, B, D, and E that have been heattreated in accordance with 5.1.1.1 shall be Charpy V-notchimpact tested. The impact test shall meet 20 ft lbf 27 J. Thetest temperature and orientation shal
