Chemical Composition5.1 The grades of titanium and titanium alloy metal coveredby this specification shall conform to the chemical compositionreq

30、uirements prescribed in Table 8.5.1.1 The elements listed in Table 8 are intentional alloyadditions or elements which are inherent to the manufacture oftitanium sponge, ingot or mill product.5.1.1.1 Elements other than those listed in Table 8 aredeemed to be capable of occurring in the grades listed

31、 in Table8 by and only by way of unregulated or unanalyzed scrapadditions to the ingot melt. Therefore, product analysis forelements not listed in Table 8 shall not be required unlessspecified and shall be considered to be in excess of the intentof this specification.5.1.2 Elements intentionally add

32、ed to the melt must beidentified, analyzed, and reported in the chemical analysis.5.2 When agreed upon by producer and purchaser andrequested by the purchaser in his written purchase order,chemical analysis shall be completed for specific residualelements not listed in this specification.5.3 Product

33、 AnalysisProduct analysis tolerances do notbroaden the specified heat analysis requirements but covervariations between laboratories in the measurement of chemi-cal content. The manufacturer shall not ship material that isoutside the limits specified in Table 8 for the applicable grade.Product analy

34、sis limits shall be as specified in Table 9.5.4 At least two samples for chemical analysis shall betested to determine chemical composition. Samples shall betaken from the ingot or the extremes of the product to beanalyzed.6. Mechanical Properties6.1 Material supplied under this specification shall

35、conformto the mechanical property requirements given in Table 7 forthe grade specified.6.2 Tension testing specimens are to be machined and testedin accordance with Test Methods E8. Tensile properties shallbe determined using a strain rate of 0.003 to 0.007 in./in./minthrough the specified yield str

36、ength, and then increasing therate so as to produce failure in approximately one additionalminute.6.3 For sheet and strip, the bend test specimen shall with-stand being bent cold through an angle of 105 without fracturein the outside of the bent portion. The bend shall be made ona radius equal to th

37、at shown in Table 7 for the applicablegrade. The bends are to be made in accordance with TestMethod E290, using Method 1, Guided Bend Test described inparagraph 3.6, bent through 105, and allowed to spring backnaturally. The surface of the specimen must include the originalmaterial surface with no m

38、aterial removal or surfaceconditioning, except corners may be rounded to a maximumradius of 0.032 in. (0.8 mm). The width of the bend shall be atleast 5 times the thickness. The test report shall, at minimum,indicate acceptable or unacceptable results.7. Permissible Variations in Dimensions7.1 Dimen

49、he thickness ordered.9. Sampling for Chemical Analysis9.1 Samples for chemical analysis shall be representative ofthe material being tested. The utmost care must be used insampling titanium for chemical analysis because of its greataffinity for elements such as oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen.Therefore, in cutting samples for analysis, the operation shouldbe carried out insofar as possible in a dust-free atmosphere.Chips should be collected from clean metal and tools should beclean and sharp.
