Scope*1.1 This specification establishes the requirements forcopper-zinc-lead alloy (leaded-brass) rod, bar, wire, and shapesproduced from Copper Alloys UNS Nos. C33500, C34000,C34500, C35000, C35300, C35330, C35350, and C35600.These alloys have nominal compos

4、ition given in Table 1.1.1.1 This product is suitable for applications requiringextensive machining before such cold-forming operations asswaging, flaring, severe knurling, or thread rolling.NOTE 1Refer to Appendix X1 for additional applications information.1.1.2 Typically, product made to this spec

5、ification is fur-nished as straight lengths. Sizes12 in. 12 mm and under maybe furnished as wire in coils or on reels when requested.1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents; th

6、erefore, eachsystem shall be used independently of the other. Ordering Information4.1 Include the following information in orders for product:4.1.1 ASTM designation and year of issue (for example,B453/B453M 05),4.1.2 Copper Alloy UNS Number designation,4.1.3 Product (rod, bar, wire, or shape

16、),4.1.4 Cross section (round, hexagonal, square, and so forth),4.1.5 Temper (See Section 6),4.1.6 Dimensions (diameter or distance between parallelsurfaces, width, thickness),4.1.7 How furnished: straight lengths, coils, or reels,4.1.8 Length,4.1.9 Total length or number of pieces of each size,4.1.1

17、0 Weight: total for each form, and size, and4.1.11 When product is purchased for agencies of the U.S.government.4.2 The following are options and should be specified in theordering information when required:4.2.1 Tensile test for product12 in. (12 mm) and over indiameter or distance between parallel

18、 surfaces,4.2.2 Certification,4.2.3 Mill test report, and4.2.4 Automatic screw machine use (9.1.4).5. Chemical Composition5.1 The material shall conform to the chemical compositionrequirements in Table 2 for the Copper Alloy UNS No.designation specified in the ordering information.5.1.1 These compos

19、ition limits do not preclude the presenceof other elements. Limits may be established and analysisrequired for unnamed elements by agreement between themanufacturer and the purchaser. For copper alloys in whichzinc is listed as the “remainder,” either copper or zinc may betaken as the difference bet

20、ween the sum of all elementsdetermined and 100 %. When copper is so determined, thatdifference value shall conform to the requirements given inTable 2.5.2 When all the named elements in Table 2 for the specifiedalloy are determined, the sum of results shall be as follows:Copper Alloy UNS No. Percent

Temper6.1 The standard tempers, as defined in Classification B601,for products described in this specification are given in Tables3-6.6.1.1 O60 (soft anneal),6.1.2 H01 (14 hard),6.1.3 HR01 (14 hard and

23、Stress Relieved), and6.1.4 H02 (12 hard) (UNS Alloy No. C35350 is availableonly in this temper).6.2 Other tempers, and temper for other products includingshapes, shall be subject to agreement between the manufacturerand the purchaser.7. Mechanical Property Requirement7.1 Rockwell Hardness Requiremen

24、ts:7.1.1 Product with a diameter or distance between parallelsurfaces of12 in. (12 mm) and over shall conform to therequirements of Table 3 and Table 4 when tested in accordancewith Test Methods E18.7.1.1.1 Rockwell hardness test results shall be the basis forproduct acceptance for mechanical proper

25、ties except whentensile test is so specified in the ordering information (4.2.1).7.1.1.2 Product that fails to conform to the hardness require-ments shall be acceptable if tensile strength requirements are inconformance.7.2 Tensile Strength Requirements:7.2.1 Product with diameter or distance betwee

(12 mm) shall conform to the require-ments of Tables 3-6 when tested in accordance with TestMethods E8 or E8M.7.2.2 When specified in the contract or purchase order,product with diameter or distance between parallel surfaces of12 in. (12 mm) and over shall conform to t

27、he tensile require-ments prescribed in Tables 3-6 for the specified temper and sizewhen tested in accordance with Test Methods E8 or E8M.8.
