Ordering Information4.1 It is the responsibility of the purchaser to specify allrequirements that are necessary for material ordered under thisspecification. Examples of such

Chemical Composition5.1 The material shall conform to the chemical compositionrequirements prescribed in Table 2.5.2 If a product (c
11、heck) analysis is made by the purchaser,the material shall conform to the requirements specified inTable 2 subject to the permissible tolerances given in Specifi-cation B 880.6. Mechanical Properties and Other Requirements6.1 The mechanical properties of the material at roomtemperature shall conform

16、ted for normal machining operations:7.3.1 As-Finished (Annealed and Descaled)For diametersof516 to1116 in. (7.94 to 17.46 mm) inclusive, an allowance of116 in. (1.59 mm) on the diameter should be made for finishmachining.7.4 Length:7.4.1 Unless multiple, nominal, or cut lengths are specified,random
17、mill lengths shall be furnished.7.4.2 The permissible variations in length of multiple,nominal, or cut length rod shall be as prescribed in Table 1.Where rods are ordered in multiple lengths, a14-in. (6.35-mm)length addition shall be permitted for each uncut multiplelength.7.5 Ends:7.5.1 Rods ordere
18、d to random or nominal lengths shall befurnished with either cropped or sawed ends.7.5.2 Rods ordered to cut lengths shall be furnished withsquare saw cut or machined ends.7.6 WeightFor the purposes of calculating the weight ofthe material covered by this specification, a density of 0.306lb/in.5(8.4
19、8 g/cm5) shall be used.7.7 Straightness The maximum curvature (depth ofchord) shall not exceed 0.050 in. multiplied by the length of thechord in feet (0.04 mm multiplied by the length in centimetres).8. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance8.1 The material shall be uniform in quality and condition,smo
20、oth, and free of injurious defects.9. Sampling9.1 Lots for Chemical and Mechanical Testing:9.1.1 A lot for chemical analysis shall consist of one heat.9.1.2 A lot of bar for mechanical testing shall be defined asthe material from one heat in the same condition and specifieddiameter.9.2 Sampling for
21、Chemical Analysis:9.2.1 A representative sample shall be obtained from eachheat during pouring or subsequent processing.9.2.2 Product (check) analysis shall be wholly the respon-sibility of the purchaser.9.3 Sampling for Mechanical TestingA representativesample shall be taken from each lot of finish

Number of Tests and Retests10.1 Chemical AnalysisOne test per heat.10.2 Tension Tests One test per lot.10.3 RetestsIf the specimen used in the mechanical test ofany lot fails to meet the specified requirements, two additionalspecimens shall be taken from different sample pieces andte
23、sted. The results of the tests on both of these specimens shallmeet the specified requirements.11. Specimen Preparations11.1 Tension test specimens shall be taken from materialafter final heat treatment and tested in the direction offabrication.11.2 Tension test specimens shall be any of the standar
24、d orsubsized specimens described in Test Methods E8.11.3 In the event of disagreement, the referee specimenshall be the largest possible round specimen described in TestMethods E8.12. Test Methods12.1 The chemical composition and mechanical propertiesof the material as enumerated in this specificati
