Terminology3.1 Description of Term Specific to This Standard:3.2 inspectoras used in this practice, an individual as-signed by the manufacturer or by the purchaser to perform aninsp
6、ection.4. Manufacturers Responsibility4.1 The manufacturer shall develop and use an effectivequality control program that shall include material controls,tests, and inspections as agreed upon between manufacturerand purchaser throughout the fabrication process.4.2 The manufacturers inspection record
7、s and associatedtest data shall be made available to the inspector.4.3 The manufacturer shall notify the inspector of anychanges in material, method of fabrication, or quality controlprocedure.4.4 The manufacturer shall designate an individual as liai-son to the inspector. He will sign the inspectio
8、n activity reports,and when necessary, will be available to the inspector todiscuss matters pertaining to inspection, fabrication, and qual-ity control.4.5 The manufacturer shall prepare sufficient concrete testcylinders to meet the purchasers requirements for compressivestrength. Test cylinders sha
9、ll be prepared in accordance withPractice C 31 and tested in accordance with Test Method C 39.Results shall be entered in an inspection activity report.4.6 The manufacturer, upon request, shall assemble (withoutgrout) selected concrete component sections to form a com-plete structure assembly to det
10、ermine that fit-up requirementsare as specified.4.7 The manufacturer shall provide marking according topurchaser requirements or according to Specification C 858.5. Inspectors Responsibility5.1 The inspector shall familiarize himself with the manu-facturers quality control program.5.2 The inspector
11、shall determine that the fabrication of theprecast units complies with drawings approved by the pur-chaser, including hardware and general requirements.5.3 The inspector shall immediately report to the purchaserand manufacturer any component parts, complete structures,etc., not in compliance.5.4 The
12、 inspector shall clearly indicate on the inspectionactivity report any fabrication problems encountered andsolutions utilized.6. Inspection Procedure6.1 The inspector shall inspect forms, materials, and fabri-cated parts used in the product.6.2 During each inspection, the inspector shall examinecomp
13、lete units for all specified features that can be determinedby visual observation.6.3 The first section of each type of precast structure fromany set of forms shall be assembled by the manufacturerwithout grout and the inspector shall check that fit-up require-ments are as specified.1This practice i

Fabrication Inspection7.1 Reinforcing Steel:7.1.1 The inspector shall check all reinforcin
16、g steel todetermine that it has been covered by mill reports, with data inreports conforming to designated standard, and has not beendamaged. Material with kinks or bends not indicated onfabrication drawings shall not be used. Heating to bendmaterial is not permitted, as specified in Specification C
17、 858.7.1.2 All reinforcing steel shall be free of loose rust and asspecified in Specification C 858. A light film of red rust is notobjectionable, as specified in Specification C 858.7.1.3 Reinforcing steel shall be checked for size, spacing,proper bends, and lengths in accordance with the drawings.
18、7.2 Assembled Reinforcing Inspection:7.2.1 All material shall be properly spliced and locatedaccording to the drawings.7.2.2 Reinforcing steel shall be secured in such a mannerthat shifting will not occur during handling of the cage orplacing of concrete. All chairs, bolsters, braces, and spacers in
19、contact with form and reinforcing rod shall be of material thatwill not deteriorate. The cage shall be properly positioned inthe form to provide the specified concrete cover over the steel.7.2.3 The inspector shall check electrical ground connec-tions or any other special items as specified.7.3 Hard
20、ware Inspection:7.3.1 Hardware shall be inspected to ensure compliancewith purchasers specifications.7.3.2 Hardware shall be placed and securely fastened atdesignated locations to prevent shifting or movement duringconcrete placing.7.3.3 Threaded inserts and duct terminators shall be free ofconcrete
21、 and other foreign matter.7.4 Concrete Inspection:7.4.1 Concrete shall be placed to prevent segregation, voidsor honeycombed areas. Placing of concrete shall be observed toensure that it is being placed properly in accordance withapplicable standards.7.4.2 The inspector shall observe condition of co
22、ncrete afterthe forms are removed. Surfaces shall be sound. Patching andfinishing shall be permitted to remove minor honeycomb.Chips, voids, and through cracks shall be repaired by anacceptable method in accordance with Specification C 858.Extensive voids, chips, through cracks, or deep honeycombsha
23、ll be referred to the design engineer or purchasers engineerfor method of repair or acceptability.7.4.3 The inspector shall observe that specified curing isprovided.7.5 Dimensions InspectionThe inspector shall measurefor overall dimensions (that is, length, width, height, wallthickness, and squarene
24、ss, etc.) the first concrete section ofeach type produced from each form. The tolerances shallcomply to the finished product in accordance to SpecificationC 858.8. Tests8.1 The inspector shall check results of slump tests, ifspecified, for compliance to specifications.8.2 The inspector shall review
25、compressive strength data onproduct covered. If not to specified strength, the inspector shallhave concrete tested by method and manner agreed uponbetween the manufacturer and purchaser.9. Nonconforming Material9.1 Material found not to be in conformance with Specifi-cation C 858 shall be rejected u
26、nless acceptance is authorized.10. Evidence of Inspection and Reporting10.1 Inspection documents, etc., shall be in accordance withthe specifications.10.2 Inspection records on products completed and shippedbetween inspections need only be prepared at the purchasersrequest.ASTM International takes n
