、accor-dance with Procedure A of Method D 618 where conditioningis required.8.2 Length and WidthLay the panel on a flat, smoothsurface and measure with a steel tape. Measure the length onthe two sides and the center to the nearest 0.03125 in. (0.8mm), and average the three measurements. Measure the w

、d todetermine squareness. Place the panel in the jig so that thelongest edge of the panel touches the horizontal rail along itsentire length, and the vertical (short edge) touches the verticalrail at some point along its entire length. Measure the gapbetween the vertical rail and the short edge of t

、he panel at thecorner opposite the one touching the rail. Measure to thenearest 0.03125 in. (0.8 mm). Rotate the panel 180 and repeatthe test.8.4 WeightWeigh the panel on a scale accurate to 61%.Calculate the area on the basis of length and width measure-ments made in accordance with 8.2. Calculate

、the weight inounces per square foot (or kilograms per square metre).8.4.1 ThicknessMake thickness measurements on flatpanels every 4 in. (101.6 mm) across the width of the panel, atboth ends, with a micrometer incorporating an anvil no lessthan 0.375 in. (9.5 mm) in diameter and accurate to 0.001 in

、.(0.3 mm). Average the individual measurements in order todetermine the panels nominal thickness.8.5 PitchThe pitch of a profile of a panel is the averagedistance from the crest of one corrugation to the crest of anadjacent corrugation or, in the case of ribbed panels, thedistance from the center of

、 one rib to the center of the nextadjacent rib. Determine the crests of the corrugations or ribs byplacing a metal straightedge crosswise on the panel so that ittouches the crests. Measure to within 60.0625 in. (65.2mm/m)/ft (304.8 mm) of panel width and divide by the numberof pitches to obtain an average pitch value.8.6 DepthThe depth of the corrugation is the verticaldistance between the plane of the crests and the upper side ofthe sheet at the bottom of the valley. Make ten depth measure-ments, five at each end, to the near
