Scope1.1 This specification covers asphalt impregnated

3、 andcoated glass fiber base sheet, with or without perforations, foruse as the first ply of the built-up roofing. When not perforated,this sheet is suitable for use as a vapor retarder, with a solidmopping of asphaltic material, under roof insulation or be-tween multiple layers of roof insulation.1.

Terminology3.1 DefinitionsFor definitions of terms used in this speci-fication, refer to Terminology D 107

6、9.4. Classification4.1 Asphalt impregnated and coated glass fiber base sheet,Type I and Type II, are covered by this specification.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 The mat shall be a thin, porous mat of uniformlydistributed glass fibers, with or without additional reinforcingstrands of glass yarn, an

7、d bonded with a water-resistantresinous binder.5.2 In the process of manufacture, a single thickness of glassfiber mat shall be impregnated with hot asphalt, coated on oneor both sides with a hot asphaltic material, and permitted to besurfaced with mineral surfacing.5.3 The impregnating and coating

8、material shall be a hot-applied asphalt permitted to be compounded with a mineralstabilizer.5.4 The base sheet may be faced with a kraft paper on thebottom side.6. Physical Requirements, Dimensions, and Masses6.1 The material shall conform to the physical requirements,dimensions, and masses describe

9、d in Table 1 and Table 2.Itmay have small pin holes throughout the sheet.6.2 Perforated material shall conform to the physical re-quirements, dimensions, and masses described in Tables 1-3.Itmay have small pin holes throughout the sheet.6.3 The finished product shall not crack nor be so sticky asto

10、cause tearing or other damage upon being unrolled attemperatures between 4 and 60C (40 and 140F).7. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 The finished material shall be uniformly impregnatedand coated with asphalt. It shall be free of visible defects suchas holes, ragged or untrue edges, breaks, cr

11、acks, tears, andprotrusions. This is not to exclude perforations for the specificpurpose of providing for venting of gases during application orsmall pin holes.8. Sampling and Test Methods8.1 Sample the material and determine the properties de-scribed in this specification in accordance with Test Me

17、rule to measure perforation size and spacing.8.6 The percentage of surfacing and stabilizer shall be theratio of mass of surfacing and stabilizer to the mass of thesurfacing, stabilizer, and asphalt.9. Inspection9.1 InspectionInspection shall be in accordance with therequirements of this specificati

18、on.9.2 Inspection AlternativesAlternative inspection require-ments shall be determined by and as agreed upon between thepurchaser and the supplier.10. Rejection and Resubmittal10.1 Failure to ConformFailure to conform to any of therequirements as stated in this specification constitutes groundsfor r

19、ejection.10.2 Rejection RedressThe supplier shall have the right toinspect the rejected materials. The supplier and the purchasershall agree to the quantity of rolls deemed unacceptable. Thesupplier shall then have the right to submit the same number ofnew rolls as replacement.11. Packaging and Pack

20、age Marking11.1 Unless otherwise agreed upon between the supplier andpurchaser, each product package shall be plainly marked withthe suppliers name, the product brand, the ASTM designation,and type of bitumen if not evident in the label name of theproduct.11.2 The rolls shall be securely wrapped or

21、banded in amanner that completely encircles the roll and will preventslipping or unrolling.11.3 No roll shall contain more than two pieces, and nomore than 3 % of the rolls in any lot shall contain two pieces.If a roll contains a manufacturing splice, the splice shall beclearly marked.12.
