Scope1.1 This specification covers a system of color coding forone-mark pipets for identification of nominal capacities, andfor

3、graduated pipets for identification of nominal capacities andunits of sub-division.1.2 This specification applies to one-mark and graduatedpipets of the nominal capacities listed in Table 1 and Table 2,respectively.NOTE 1Many pipets not covered by other ASTM standards areincluded in Table 1 and Tabl

4、e 2, in order, firstly, to ensure uniformity ofcolor coding as far as possible for non-standard as well as standard pipetsand, secondly, to reserve suitable codes for possible future standards forother types of pipet.2. Significance and Use3.1 The purpose of this specification is to ensure that if acolor code is used on pipets, all manufacturers will use thesame code; it is not intended as an encouragement of colorcoding if this is not required.4. Color Properties4.1 Co

6、dingThe color coding used on one-mark pipetsshall be in accordance with Table 1, and graduated pipets shallbe in accordance with Table 2.4.2 VariationsVariations in the enamels used in the meth-ods of application appropriate for pipets made from differenttypes of glass inevitably result in minor var

7、iations of color, andit is therefore not appropriate to specify closely the sevencolors listed in the tables.5. Marking Requirements5.1 The color code shall take the form of color bandsextending at least 150 around the circumference of the pipetand situated not more than 70 mm from the top of the pi

8、pet andnot less than 20 mm above the nearest graduation line.5.2 For a code consisting of a single band of color, the bandshall be 5 to 10 mm wide. For a code consisting of two bandsof color, each band shall be 3 to 5 mm wide and the two bandsshall be separated by a space of 2 to 3 mm. Color bands d
