Materials and Manufacture4.1 Materials:4.1.1 The nuts shall be manufactured from material havinga chemical composition conforming to the requirements inTable 2 and capable of developing the required mechanicalproperties for the specified alloy in the finished fastener. 19、on B574 for nickel alloys.4.1.2 The starting condition of the raw material shall be atthe discretion of the fastener manufacturer but shall be suchthat the finished products conform to all the specified require-ments.4.2 Manufacture:4.2.1 FormingUnless otherwise specified, the nuts shallbe hot press

Chemical Composition5.1 Chemical CompositionThe nuts shall conform to thechemical composition specified in Table 1 for the specifiedalloy.5.2 Manufacturers Analysis:5.2
23、.1 Except as provided in 5.2.2, when test reports arerequired on the inquiry or purchase order (3.1.8), the manu-facturer shall make individual analyses of randomly selectedfinished nuts from the product to be shipped and report theresults to the purchaser. Alternatively, if heat and lot identitiesh
24、ave been maintained, the analysis of the raw material fromwhich the nuts have been manufactured may be reportedinstead of product analysis.5.2.2 For aluminum nuts, instead of 5.2.1, the manufacturermay furnish a certificate of conformance certifying compliancewith the chemical composition specified
25、in Table 1.5.3 Product Analysis:5.3.1 Product analyses may be made by the purchaser fromfinished products representing each lot. The chemical compo-sition thus determined shall conform to the requirements inTable 1.5.3.2 In the event of disagreement, a referee chemicalanalysis of samples from each l
26、ot shall be made in accordancewith 12.1 and 13.1.6. Mechanical Properties6.1 The nuts shall be tested in accordance with the mechani-cal testing requirements for the applicable type and shall meetthe mechanical requirements in Table 2 for the specified alloy.6.2 Where both proof load and hardness te
27、sts are performed,the proof load test results shall take precedence for acceptancepurposes.7. Dimensions7.1 NutsUnless otherwise specified, the dimensions ofnuts shall be in accordance with the requirements of ASMEB 18.2.2.7.2 ThreadsUnless otherwise specified, the nuts shallhave Class 2B threads in
28、 accordance with ASME B 1.1.8. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance8.1 WorkmanshipNuts shall have a workmanlike finishfree of injurious burrs, seams, laps, irregular surfaces, andother imperfections affecting serviceability.8.2 FinishUnless otherwise specified, the nuts shall befurnished without any
29、additive chemical or metallic finish.9. Sampling9.1 A lot, for the purposes of selecting test specimens, shallconsist of not more than 100 000 pieces offered for inspectionat one time having the following common characteristics:9.1.1 One type of item,9.1.2 Same alloy and temper, and9.1.3 One nominal
30、 diameter and thread series.10. Number of Tests and Retests10.1 Normal TestingThe requirements of this specifica-tion shall be met in continuous mass production for stock (seeF467 0812Table 3). The manufacturer shall make sample inspections asspecified below to ensure that the product conforms to th

Significance of Numerical Limits11.1 For purposes of determining compliance with thespecified limits for requirements of the properties listed in thisspecification, an observed value or calculated value shall berounded in accordance with Prac

Test Specimens12.1 Chemical TestsWhen required, samples for chemicalanalysis shall be taken in accordance with Practice E55 bydrilling, sawing, milling, turning, clipping, or such othermethods capable of producing representative samples.12.2 Mechanical Tests:12.2.1 Nuts shall be tested
35、in full section.12.2.2 The hardness shall be determined on the top orbottom face of the nut.13. Test Methods13.1 Chemical AnalysisWhen required, the chemicalcomposition shall be determined by any recognized commer-cial test method. For sizes14 (0.250) to716(0.4375) in. one reading shall be taken. For sizes12 (0.500) in.and larger the hardness shall be the average of four readingslocated 90 to one
38、 another.14. Inspection14.1 When specified on the inquiry or purchase order, theproduct shall be subject to inspection by the purchaser at theplace of manufacture prior to shipment. The inspector repre-senting the purchaser shall have controlled entry only to thoseparts of the manufacturers operatio
39、ns that concern the manu-facture of the ordered product and only when and where workon the contract of the purchaser is being performed. Themanufacturer shall afford the inspector all reasonable facilitiesto satisfy him that the product is being furnished in accordancewith this specification. All in
40、spections and tests shall beconducted so as not to interfere unnecessarily with the opera-tions of the manufacturer.15. Rejection and Rehearing15.1 Unless otherwise specified, any rejection based on testsspecified herein and made by the purchaser shall be reported tothe manufacturer as soon as pract
41、ical after receipt of theproduct by the purchaser.16. Certification and Test Reports16.1 Certificate of ComplianceWhen specified in thecontract or purchase order, the manufacturer shall furnishcertification that the product was manufactured and tested inaccordance with this specification and conform
42、s to all specifiedrequirements.16.2 Test ReportsWhen “Shipment Lot Testing” in accor-dance with Supplementary Requirement S2 is specified in thecontract or purchase order, the manufacturer shall furnish a testreport showing the results of the mechanical tests for each lotshipped.17. 43、ng and Package Marking17.1 Individual NutsAll products shall be marked with asymbol identifying the manufacturer. In addition, they shall bemarked with the alloy/mechanical property marking specifiedin Table 1. The marking shall be raised or depressed at theoption of the manufacturer.17.2 Packaging:

47、 AlloysS1.1 Copper alloy fasteners shall exhibit no evidence ofcracking after immersion for 30 min in an aqueous solution ofmercurous nitrate when tested in accordance with Test MethodB154.S1.1.1 WarningMercury is a definite health hazard andequipment for the detection and removal of mercury vaporpr
48、oduced in volatilization is recommended. The use of rubbergloves in testing is advisable.S2. Shipment Lot TestingS2.1 When Supplementary Requirement S2 is specified onthe order (3.1.6), the manufacturer shall make sample tests onthe individual lots for shipment to ensure that the productconforms to
49、the specified requirements.S2.2 The manufacturer shall make an analysis of a ran-domly selected finished nut from each lot of product to beshipped. Heat or lot control shall be maintained. The analysisof the starting material from which the nuts have beenmanufactured may be reported in place of the product analysis.S2.3 The manufacturer shall perform mechanical propertytests in accordance with this specification and Guide F1470 onthe individual lots for shipment.S2.4 The manufacturer shall furnish a test report for eachlot in the shipm
