Significance and Use3.1 This test method is designed to compare related lami-nated composite gasket materials under controlled conditionsand their short-time compressibility and recovery at roomtemperature. It measures compressibility with a matched pairof oppos
8、ing upper and lower penetrators which provide betterprecision and bias than methods using an upper penetrator anda lower anvil. It is difficult to prepare undistorted test speci-mens from laminated composite gasket materials which willlay flat on an anvil. Also, with many composites having rigidinne
9、r layers the load on the upper penetrator is distributed overthe bottom anvil area resulting in a lower than actual com-pressibility reading. This test method may be used as a routinetest method when agreed upon between the purchaser and theproducer.4. Apparatus4.1 The testing machine4shall consist
