The test has been revised and renamed in the light of practicalexperiencein the United Kingdom and of joint investigation and discussion in aninternational context. The name “non-combustibility test” was thought onbalance to b
24、emore logical than“combustibility test” and in line with theproposals of the International Organizationfor Standardization(ISO).Consideration was given to the possibility of using abombcalorimeter but it was decided not torecommend a test on this basis. The new test recommends that acontinuous recor
25、ding of the furnace temperature is made and requiresobservations as to whether a sample produces a flame. Materials are classified as combustible or non-combustible by identifying those whichmake little or nothermal contribution to the heat of the furnace and do not produce a flame,andby calling the
