6、side back coverBS6F37:1990 ii BSI 02-2000 Foreword This BritishStandard, prepared under the direction of the Aerospace Standards Policy Committee, is one of a series for textiles of a quality suitable for aerospace purposes and is a revision of BS5F37, which is withdrawn. It differs from the previou

7、s edition primarily in that provision for the supply of fabrics treated with mineral khaki has been deleted. Quality requirements as defined in the latest edition of BSF100 are also included, as are details of information to be supplied by the purchaser. WARNING NOTES 1) This standard calls for the

8、use of substances and/or test procedures that may be injurious to health if adequate precautions are not taken. It refers only to technical suitability and in no way absolves either the supplier or the user from statutory obligations relating to health and safety at any stage of manufacture or use.

9、2) This standard specifies pentachlorophenyl laurate (PCPL) as the only approved rot-proofing treatment for aerospace fabrics. Alternative treatments are under development, and this standard will be updated to delete PCPL assoon as an approved alternative treatment for aerospace fabrics is available

10、. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. 12、cope This BritishStandard specifies the requirements for cotton canvas fabrics of nominal loomstate mass570g/m 2and640g/m 2for aerospace purposes, primarily for heavy duty parachute packs. NOTE 1The information to be supplied by the purchaser in the contract or order is listed in Appendix A. NOTE 2T

13、he publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. NOTE 3The latest revision of an Aerospace Series Standard is indicated by a prefix number. 2 General requirements 2.1 In addition to the requirements specified in clauses2 to7, the following sections and clauses of the

14、 latest edition of BSF100 shall apply (seeTable 1). 2.2 Fabrics treated with pentachlorophenyl laurate (PCPL), shall meet the requirements of BS2087-1 freedom from impurities clause. 3 Yarn type 3.1 The fabrics shall be manufactured from unsized cotton yarn free from trash and seed coat. 3.2 The yar

15、n shall comply with the requirements given in Table 2. 4 Manufacture 4.1 The weave shall be plain. 4.2 The fabric shall be supplied either: a) without identification markers; or b) where requested by the purchaser (seeAppendix A), marked with a coloured thread woven into the fabric3cm from each selv

16、edge. For fabric429 the thread shall be blue and for fabric37 the thread shall be red. Table 1 General requirements (giveninBSF100) 4.3 The loomstate properties of the fabrics shall comply with the requirements given in Table 3. 5 Finish 5.1 General The fabrics shall be supplied scoured and either:

17、a) undyed and rot-proofed (see5.4); or b) dyed (see5.3) and rot-proofed (see5.4); or c) dyed (see5.3), rot-proofed (see5.4) and rendered water repellent (see5.5). 5.2 Undyed fabrics Undyed fabrics shall not be bleached or given a whitening treatment. 21、 in a measured length of not less than2cm.BS6F37:1990 2 BSI 02-2000 5.3 Dyeing Where dyeing is required, the colour shall be specified either by reference to a BritishStandard, e.g.BS381C, or otherwise by pattern. NOTEThe requirement for dyed fabric and the colour should be stated in the contract or

22、 order (see Appendix A). 5.4 Rot-proofing The fabrics shall be treated with pentachlorophenyl laurate (PCPL) in accordance with BS2087-1: normal process. No alternative process shall be permitted. 5.5 Water repellent treatment 5.5.1 Where requested by the purchaser (seeAppendix A), the fabric shall

23、be rendered permanently water repellent by a process which complies with6.3. 5.5.2 Water repellent treatments known to accelerate actinic damage shall not be used. 6 Construction and properties of finished fabric NOTEThe minimum usable width of the finished fabric should be as stated by the purchase

24、r in the contract or order (seeAppendix A), but a minimum usable width of900mm is usually supplied. 6.1 Tests When tested in accordance with clause2, the fabric in the finished state shall comply with6.2 and6.3. 6.2 Breaking strength The minimum average breaking strength in both warp and weft direct

25、ions shall be not less than the following: 6.3 Water repellency Where required, the fabric shall be rendered water repellent such that the mean absorption shall not exceed25% and the penetration shall be nil, i.e.no individual figure shall exceed nil. 7 Identification The fabric shall be identified

26、for ordering purposes by the number and date of this BritishStandard, i.e.BS6F37:1990 1)together with the relevant designation given in Table 2 and, if required, the colour and water repellent treatment. NOTEThis identification may be codified. For example, fabric429 required dyed to BS381C Olive dr

27、ab and water repellent, may be identified as BS6F37/429/BS381C No.298/WR. a) fabric designation429: 1400N/50mm b) fabric designation37: 1600N/50mm 1) Marking BS6F37:1990 on or in relation to a product represents a manufacturers declaration of conformity, i.e.a claim by or on behalf of the manufactur

28、er that the product meets the requirements of the standard. The accuracy of the claim is therefore solely the responsibility of the person making the claim.
