INTRODUCTION This document has been produced as a consequence of the high priority phased on identifying telematic services in the ISDN and intercommunication between the existing se
、rvices in the dedicated networks and telematic services in the ISDN. The high priority requirements from the EEC (ref. the GAP-report) is covered by this document. This document is the result of seven meetings since the group started its work in February 1986. It is the intention that this document
、should form the basis of a Draft Recommendation. The group meet the timescale 5/1987 for the work which this document covers. The next step is definitions and descriptions of the services with a proposed timescale 6/1988. Whilst it is appreciated that voice traffic and services will dominate the ini
、tial implementations of ISDN, it is recognised that non-voice services are growing and it is important to identify their requirements for integration. It has been necessary to ascertain the degree of commonality between the supplementary services for voice and those required for telematic services.

、1 3. PROVISION OF EXISTING TELEMATIC SERVICES IN THE ISDN 3.1. General guidance These are strategic guidelines for the introduction of existing services in the ISDN. The implementation is strictly a national matter. However, a measure of Co-ordination is necessary internationally in order to provide
、 users worldwide with attractive telecommunication services, appropriate intercommunication possibilities and thereby to ensure financial success for the service providers. Any existing service introduced in the ISDN should have immediate access to the same service on existing networks. There should
、 be minimum changes in the user access procedures. Any transition from existing to future international tariffs and accounting should be orderly. The suggested provisional list of priorities for the implementation of existing services in the ISDN, is: 1. TELETEX, TELEFAX AND VIDEOTEX 2. DATA TRANSMI
、SSION 3. MHSS It is stressed once again that the priority of implementation is a national matter but it has significant international relevance. Simultaneous implementation of existing services in the ISDN in all countries is deemed necessary and efforts should be made to achieve this goal. Edition
