18、 a heating element (fitted opposite the burner). It shall be set up in an enclosedspace (test room).3.2 Fire chamberThe dimensions of the fire chamber and its floor, ceiling, walls and openings shall be as shown in figure 1. Itswalls shall be made of A353) refractory bricks having a density of 1,9 k
19、g/dm3to 2,1 kg/dm3, fitted in a steelframework. The ceiling and the floor shall be of refractory concrete having a density of 2 kg/dm3to 2,2 kg/dm3.The outside of the furnace may be clad with sheet steel about 2 mm thick, with thermal insulation beingoptionally provided between the furnace wall and
20、the cladding.There shall no be more than one opening for inserting a specimen in each longitudinal wall and in the ceiling.No more than two closable inspection openings, each having a maximum clear area of 100 cm2, may beprovided. The flue gas outlet shall be designed to produce a gauge pressure in

23、having a closed sheath, an outside diameter of 3 mm and a protective tube as shown in figure 2shall be used to measure the temperature in the furnace, the sheath and tube being steel not susceptible to scaleformation. It shall be inserted into the furnace so that the measuring point is at a distance
24、 of (100 t 5) mm fromthe centre of the specimen surface.A steel tube having an inside diameter of (15 t 5) mm and fitted as shown in sections A-A and C-C in figure 1shall be used to measure the static pressure in the furnace.3.3 BurnerThe burner used shall be an atomizing oil burner producing a cont

27、iling of the furnace.The temperature in the test room shall not drop below 15 C or exceed 25 C for at least 24 hours prior to thetest.The furnace shall be heated with EL type fuel oil as in DIN 51603-1 or diesel fuel as in DIN EN 590. After the firstfive minutes of testing, the temperature in the furnace shall not differ by more than t 15 K from the curve shownin the relevant application standard (e.g. from the standard time-temperature curve specified in DIN 4102-2).The test shall be performed at a gauge pressure of (10t 2) Pa reached after the first five minutes of testing.
