7、ing any or all such patent rights. Amendments This standard differs from DIN 50018:1997-06 as follows: a) designations of test atmospheres have been revised to comply with DIN EN ISO 6270-2; b) procedures of performance checks on the apparatus have been revised to ensure compliance with the requirem

8、ents on dummy specimens according to DIN EN ISO 6988; c) the standard has been editorially revised. Previous editions DIN 50018: 1963-12, 1978-05, 1988-06, 1997-06 DIN 50018:2013-05 4 1 Scope This standard specifies the general conditions and procedures for the testing of test specimens in condensat

9、ion atmospheres in the presence of sulfur oxide and specifically for sulfur dioxide concentrations that are not included in DIN EN ISO 6988:1997-03 and which are required to be complied with to ensure that the results of tests carried out in different laboratories are reproducible. If a particular c

10、oncentration has not been specified, testing is to comply with DIN 50018 AHT 1,0 S. It is advisable to test only same-type anti-corrosion systems at the same time in any one apparatus, as interactions between test specimens of different systems cannot be excluded. If more than one anti-corrosion sys

11、tem is tested on more than one test material, it needs to be taken into account that the effect of sulfur dioxide on the test specimens might vary. The shape and preparation of test specimens, the duration of the test and the assessment of the test results are not covered in this standard. For infor

12、mation regarding these, the relevant standards and regulations shall be consulted or shall be agreed on a case-to-case basis. For the purpose of these tests, the specifications of DIN 50905-1 to DIN 50905-3 in particular shall be complied with. Further information is given in the Introduction to DIN

13、 EN ISO 6988:1997-03. The tests described in this standard serve to assess the effectiveness of anti-corrosion systems and to quickly diagnose corrosion defects. The tests described here are assigned to the category accelerated corrosion tests as in DIN EN ISO 8044. Unless the anti-corrosion systems

14、 applied are similar to one another, it may be difficult to compare their effectiveness under service conditions. This is due to the fact that corrosive test conditions may differ considerably from those occurring in service, thus inducing corrosion to take different routes and to employ different m

19、he purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in DIN 50900-2 and DIN EN ISO 8044 apply. 4 Apparatus and material DIN EN ISO 6988:1997-03, Clause 3 shall apply. 5 Designation The designations for both tests (see Table 1) shall read: Test DIN 50018 AHT 1,0 S, Test DIN 50018 AHT 2,0 S.

20、6 Test specimens DIN EN ISO 6988:1997-03, Clause 4 shall apply. 7 Arrangement of test specimens DIN EN ISO 6988:1997-03, Clause 5 shall apply. 8 Procedure 8.1 Test conditions and procedure The test conditions are specified in Table 1, partly deviating from DIN EN ISO 6988:1997-03. Additionally, DIN

21、EN ISO 6988:1997-03, 6.1, 6.2 and 6.4 shall apply for test procedures. NOTE Much of the sulfur dioxide added at the beginning of the first test phase quickly dissolves into the water at the bottom of the test chamber. Thus, the effective sulfur dioxide concentration in the gas chamber is approximate

22、ly only 1/7 of the theoretical concentration. Also, the initial concentration does not remain constant during the first test phase, dropping rapidly at first and then more slowly. The second test phase starts with the switching off of the heating and the opening and/or venting of the test chamber; a

23、fter approximately 1 hour the test conditions given in Table 1 are required to be achieved. 8.2 Test duration Unless the test duration has been specified in specific test standards, tests shall preferably be performed in cycles of 1, 2, 5, 10, 15 or 20. The test may be terminated if a specified degr

24、ee of corrosion has been reached, or if the appearance or function of test specimens has otherwise been impaired to an unacceptable level. If, as usual, several test cycles are carried out, according to DIN EN ISO 6988:1997-03, 6.5.1, the water and sulfur dioxide in the test chamber shall be replace

DIN 50018:2013-05 6 9 Performance checks 9.1 General In order to ensure the reproducibility and repeatability of test results obtained either with one or several test apparatuses, performance checks shall be carried out. If the test specimens cannot be weighed immediately after degreasing, they are to be kept in a desiccator until weigh

Five test cycles shall be carried out under the test conditions specified in DIN EN ISO 6988. 9.5 Removal of corrosion products The corrosion products shall be removed from the test specimens by pickling carried out at a temperature of 18 C to 28 C. For this, hydrochloric

Other solutions as specified in ISO 8407 may be used. After removal of the corrosion products the test spe

Individual values shall not deviate from the mean by more than 20 %. 10 Test report The test report shall include, as a minimum: a) a reference to this standard, b) the type and designation of the test specimens, c) the code letters of the test, d) the duration of the test, e) any interruptions during the test, f) the nominal test chamber capacity, g) any deviations from this standard if applicable, h) the date of the test.
