9、3363: 1969-05.All dimensions are in millimetres.1 ScopeThis standard species a method of determining the tear resistance of a plastic lm under specied con-ditions. It is applicable to products that, because of their exibility, do not tear when clamped between the grips of a tensile testing machine.
10、The method makes it possible to compare samples of different products provided their thickness does not differ by more than 10 %.Page 2DIN 53363 : 2003-102 Normative referencesThis standard incorporates, by dated or undated reference, provisions from other publications. 26、d in the present standard. This test method involves securing the trapezoidal specimen (see gure 1) in the grips of the tensile testing machine at an angle of 2 15 (see gure 3).In the test described in DIN 53515, many types of plastic lm exhibit a high early strength, i.e. tearing actually takes pla
27、ce only when the force has reached a considerably high level, after which the force required for tearing to continue drops to a fraction of its previous magnitude. This phenomenon is not observed when using the specimen specied in the present standard. Here, the material tears at a lower force, which better reects its behaviour in practice.Key1 Upper grip2 Specimen3 Lower gripFigure 3: Specimen shown at start of loading test as in DIN 53363
