、s Committee). DIN 67510 consists of the following parts, under the general title Phosphorescent pigments and products: Part 1: Measurement and marking at the producer Part 2: Measurement of phosphorescent products on site Part 3: Low location lighting system Part 4: Products for phosphorescent escap

、e route systems Markings and applications NOTE When applying this standard, the requirements of the supervisory authority apply, in particular Arbeitsstttenregel (Workplace Regulation) ASR A 3.4/3. Figures 1 to 13 and Annex A contain example applications. In combination with the markings specified i

、n this standard and those which have already been introduced, the individual signs and markings form a phosphorescent escape route system*), used for example when the lighting fails or visibility is impaired by smoke. This low location lighting system remains effective up to the end of a defined per

、iod of time. This standard specifies rules for equipping a low location lighting system so that it forms a continuous path for guiding endangered persons from their present location to a safe area. Attention is drawn to the possibility that some elements of this document may be the subject of patent

、 rights. DIN and/or DKE shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all of such patents. Amendments This standard differs from DIN 67510-3:2004-07 as follows: a) in the German version, the term Rettungsweg has been replaced with Fluchtweg; b) Figure 11 and Figure 13 have been deleted; c) an

、 escape and evacuation plan in accordance with ISO 23601 has been added; d) Annex A has been revised; e) the normative references have been updated. 22、rinciples The guidance signs and exit path markings shall be identifiable all the way from the working or occupied area to the safe area. They can be attached either to the floor or to the lower section of the wall. The direction of the escape route shall be indicated on the wall up to a top height

、of 40 cm above the floor using escape signs as detailed in DIN 4844-2 and on the floor by lines or arrows as detailed in ISO 7001. The shaft of the arrows can be omitted. Additional information such as distances or other safety symbols should be integrated in the exit path marking or combined with i

、t (see Figures 1 to 12). Markings for hazards, obstacles and safety equipment shall be included. Safety equipment shall be clearly indicated by having phosphorescent controls, such as switches or valves, or by being mounted on a phosphorescent background (for emergency call equipment for instance).

、Fire fighting equipment such as wall hydrants and fire extinguishers shall be indicated and marked. The components used in the escape route system shall have at least the same luminance as the exit path marking. Only products in accordance with DIN 67510-4 shall be used for identification and markin

、g. 4.2 Excitation The phosphorescent products in the escape route system shall be charged using suitable light sources (see also DIN 67510-2). Light sources with a large blue light component are preferable; lamps with a large red light component and sodium-vapour lamps are less suitable. The manufac

、turers information shall be taken into account when selecting suitable phosphorescent products for excitation. DIN 67510-3:2011-04 6 5 Constructional design principles 5.1 General Examples of constructional design are shown in Figures 1 to 13. The escape routes shall be clearly indicated along their

、 entire length with exit path markings. Exit path markings are regarded as continuous if there are at least three regularly spaced markings per metre. The markings shall have a diameter or side length of at least 50 mm. The minimum width of the markings shall be calculated as a function of the lumin

、ance of the materials and the excitation at the place where they are attached. Annex A contains an example for calculating the minimum width of the markings. In every case, it shall be based on the binding material information from the manufacturer. 5.2 Width of exit path markings as a function of l

、uminance The exit path markings of phosphorescent escape route systems shall be at least 50 mm wide. Structural design considerations may necessitate narrower exit path markings, but for reasons of identifiability (in situations when visibility is impaired, for example by smoke) they shall not be le

、ss than 25 mm wide. Starting from 100 mm, the width of the exit path markings can be reduced if the decayed luminance, for example after 60 min, is increased according to Equation (1). In this way, identifiability is maintained. The luminance of the other components of the escape route system (see 5

、.3 to 5.10) shall be matched to that of the exit path marking. The relationship between luminance and marking width is defined by Equation (1): 2min2mm00010= LdL (1) where L is the luminance in mcd/m2at the place of use; d is the marking width in mm; Lminis the minimum luminance. For example, if the

、 minimum luminance is Lmin = 2 mcd/m2, the resulting marking width is 100 mm. The relationship between the marking width and the luminance is shown in Table 1. At luminances between the stated values, the greater marking width shall be selected. NOTE 1 Information on the minimum luminance can be fou

、nd in ASR 3.4/3, for example. 35、Riccos law states that the relative detection threshold for foveal vision is the product of the square of the viewing angle and the luminance of the observed object (see also the Bibliography 1 and 2). 5.3 Doors and emergency exits Where there are doors or emergency exits on escape routes, either th

、e frame is marked or the exit path marking is continued on the side of the door handle up to the height of the door handle. The width of the surround strip should be at least 20 mm. The door handle shall be phosphorescent or on a phosphorescent background; the size of the phosphorescent area depends

、 on the model of the handle and should be approximately 100 mm 150 mm. This also applies to doors which lead to the escape route. The direction in which the handle is to be actuated should be indicated. This is obligatory for special types of door handle. Doors which are not part of escape routes sh

、all not be marked (see Figure 5 to Figure 10). 5.4 Stairs and ramps Stairs and ramps shall be identified and marked with phosphorescent products so that the start, course and end of the stairs or ramp are clearly identifiable (see Figures 1 to 3). The identification/marking of areas or cheek walls t

、o the side of stairs should be at least 50 mm wide and start on the treads. Stairs can be indicated by a strip at least 10 mm wide on the front edge of the steps. The handrail shall be included in the marking as an additional aid to orientation, with a marking strip at least 25 mm wide. DIN 67510-3:

、2011-04 8 5.5 Obstacles Obstacles along escape routes, such as projecting walls, pillars and furnishings that obstruct movement, shall be indicated with phosphorescent hatched markings as described in DIN 4844-1, and may be given exit path markings leading around them (see Figure 4). 5.6 Lifts Lifts

、 shall have phosphorescent signs as detailed in DIN 4844-2, indicating that they are not to be used in the event of danger. 5.7 Safety equipment Safety equipment and controls shall have phosphorescent signs and markings. Phosphorescent products used as background surrounds shall extend at least 50 m

、m around the outer contours. 5.8 Escape and evacuation plans The background of escape and evacuation plans as detailed in DIN ISO 23601 (see Figure 13) shall be manufactured from phosphorescent products. 5.9 Emergency exits Emergency exits and their steps or ladders shall have phosphorescent signs o

、r markings. 5.10 Sign plates Sign plates in escape route systems shall be phosphorescent. Sign plates can be attached individually or integrated in the exit path marking (see Figure 1 to Figure 12). If the lighting fails, phosphorescent products ensure that the shape and symbol of a sign plate remai
