SCOPE. This CID covers the general re
2、quirements for a playpipe. A playpipe furnishes a rigid extension to a standard fire hose and provides a gripping surface for fire fighting personnel. The playpipe covered in this CID is for use by civil and military fire departments. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISITCS. 2.1 Description. The playpipe shall b
3、e as specified herein. The waterway bore of the playpipe shall be smooth and unobstructed and shall taper from 2-1/2 inches at the butt end to 1-1/2 inches at the tip end (see figure 1). 2.2 Construction Materials. The materials used shall be in accordance with the requirements stated in chapter 3,
4、National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1964, Standard for Spray Nozzles (Shutoff and Tip), 1998 Edition. 6、URE 1. Playpipe, 2-2 inch (8-1 1 inch lenath). 2.3 Desian and Construction. The overall length of the playpipe shall be not less than 8 inches and not more than 11 inches. The body of the playpie shall be one-piece construction. The playpipe shall be equipped with two diametrically opposed semiflexi
7、ble handles that swivels around the playpipe at the tip and butt without binding. The swivel at the tip end shall have an integrally cast ladder hook. The handles and ladder hooks shall support 300 Ibs. The handles shall be reinforced at the swivel connections for rigid construction. The butt end sh
8、all be equipped with rocker-type lugs. The lugs shall be designed for use with spanner wrenches. 2.4 Performance. The playpipe shall have a working pressure rating of 250 pounds per square inch gage (psig) and shall withstand a hydrostatic pressure of 500 psig without evidence of permanent deformati
9、on, cracks, or other evidence of damage or leakage. 2.5 Threads. The butt end of the playpipe shall have a 2-1/2 inch x 7-1/2 NH (National Hose) internal threaded rigid connection, and the tip end shall have a 1-1/2 inch x 9 NH external threaded rigid connection. Washers or lockwashers shall be provided where necessary. Matching thread
11、areas securing bolts conforming to SAE J429 or capscrews shall be of sufficient strength to withstand the tensile strength of the bolt. All fasteners shall be correctly torqued and shall have full thread engagement. Bolts shall not protrude more than two full threads. 2.7 Gaskets. One gasket shall b
12、e furnished to fit each internal-threaded connection. The gasket shall be commercial standard. 2.8 Deterioration. The playpipe shall be made of inherently corrosive resistant materials or treated to provide protection from various forms of corrosion. Dissimilar metals shall be electrically insulated
13、 from one another to minimize or prevent galvanic corrosion. 2.9 Environmental Protection. During the manufacturing of the playpipes, materials hazardous to the environment or prohibited by the Federal, State or Local statues shall not be used or emitted. 3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. 3.1 Recycled/Rec
14、overed Materials. The offerer/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS. 4.1 Product Conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient
15、 characteristics of this CID, conform to the producer?s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 4.2 Market Acceptance. The manu
16、facturers of products supplied under this CID shall meet the following criteria to ensure the quality of the product: 1. Five years in business. 2. 3.
