2、d. This Commercial Item Description covers a polyester fiber bed pillow. Salient characteristics: The finished bed pillow shall be rectangular in shape and shall be 29 inches plus or minus 1/2 inch in width and 26 inches plus or minus 1/2 inch in length. Length and width measurements of the filled a
3、nd closed pillow shall be determined from end of seam to end of seam. The pillow shall be made of one piece of cotton ticking with the strips in the widthwise direction (shorter dimension) of the pillow. The case shall be seamed inside-out leaving one end open. The end opening shall be seamed after
4、turning the case right side out and filling the pillow. Stitching shall be not less than 1/4 inch from the edges of the material except that the stitching on final closure shall be not less than 1/8 inch from the edge. One end of the identification label and instruction label shall be securely stitc
5、hed into the closing seam or the seam opposite the closing seam of the pillow. When a separate state label is legallyrequired by the state in which the pillow is manufactured, the state label shall be securely stitched adjacent to and in the same seam as the identification label. The ticking shall b
6、e an untreated clean cotton ticking twill cloth with a minimum weight of 6.5 ounces/square yard. yarn shall be singles and shall be made from cotton which has been carded, drawn, and spun into singles yarn. The cloth shall have a minimum of 70 yarns per inch in the warp direction and 44 yarns per in

A-A-5 4 O 9 5 The needle and looper thread utilized in the fabrication of the pillow shall be a soft finish, Ticket Number 30, 3 ply, unbleached or bleached white, cotton thread with a minimum breaking strength of 3.0 pounds. When Stitch Type 4
9、01 is used, Ticket Number 50, 3 ply, with a minimum breaking strength of 1.9 pounds may be used for the bobbin or looper thread. The pillow filler shall be 100 percent prime grade virgin polyester fiber formed into an even batt of an approved fiberfill material. The use of any form of polyester wast
10、e is prohibited (e.g., undrawn fiber, mixture of deniers, lusters, or cross sections, and waste from any stage of fiber production; whether drawn, undrawn, or mixed or garnetted fiber). The batt shall be garnet-opened and cross-lapped, and then rolled for consistent density and firmness in the final
11、 form. The batt shall have a density of one ounce per square foot, using polyester of nominal 4-3/4 denier and 2 inch filament length. The finjshed pillow shall contain a minimum of 24 ounces of filler. The use of airblown or garnetted clippings is prohibited. A funnel-shaped compression chute or ot
12、her suitable mechanical means shall be used to place the fiberfill batt into the casing. The use of a blower attachment for placing the fiberfill into the casing is prohibited. Underweight batts shall not be “pieced in“. A certificate of compliance is mandatory for the filler requirements of the pre
13、ceeding paragraph. It shall include a certified statement that the fiber used is that specified in the preceeding paragraph plus the fiber suppliers type and identification data supported by a certified copy of the fiber producers certification to the manufacturer of pillows. All stitches except the
14、 closing seam shall be the lockstitch (type 301) or the chain stitch (type 401). The closing seam shall be the lockstitch. Stitches shall be 10 plus or minus 2 stitches per inch. All seams except the closing seam shall be a straight, flat seam formed by superimposing two plies of material and seamin
15、g them with one or more rows of stitches. 26、right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. Records. Records of examinations and tests performed by or for the contractor shall be maintained by the contractor a
27、nd made available to the Government upon the Governments request, at any time, or from time to time, during the performance of the contract and for a period of three years after delivery of the supplies to which such records relate. Inspection. Inspection, as used herein, is defined as both examinat
