11、 EIA-364-97 Page 1 TEST PROCEDURE No. 97 HOUSING PANEL RETENTION TEST PROCEDURE FOR ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS 1 Introduction This specification covers the test procedure for determining the mechanical retention of the panel locking feature housings when installed in panels. 2 Test resources 2.1 Equipmen
12、t Apparatus shall include the following: 2.1.1 Panel cutout for each size housing, fabricated within the drawing tolerances specified in the Detail Specification. 2.1.2 Force mechanism capable of compression testing at a constant rate of 12.7 millimeters per minute (0.5 inch per minute). 2.1.3 Compr
13、ession force measuring device capable of measuring force to an accuracy of 2%. 3 Test specimen Housing sizes from the connector family shall be as specified in the Detail Specification. 4 Test procedure 4.1 Preparation Each connector housing shall be properly installed in the appropriate panel cutou
14、t. connector housing size shall be tested in the direction against the housing panel lock. 15、as shown in figure 1. 4.3 Force application The force mechanism shall be set to exert an axial force at a constant rate of 13 millimeters per minute (0.5 inch per minute) in a direction against the connector housing panel locks, thus causing the connector housing to be dislodged from its mounted pos
16、ition in the panel. 4.4 Failure mode Maximum retention force, visual observations, and resultant and failure mode shall be recorded. 5 Details to be specified The following details shall be specified in the Detail Specification: 5.1 Sizes and numbers of housings to be tested. 5.2 Direction of force
17、application required for test, if other than indicated in figure 1. 5.3 Minimum housing panel retention force. 5.4 Sequence of conditioning and testing if applicable. 5.5 Conditions if other than standard atmospheric conditions. 6 Test documentation Documentation shall contain the following: 6.1 Tit
18、le of test. 6.2 Description of specimen and fixture - including dimension of each panel cutout used. 6.3 Test equipment used. 6.4 Maximum retention force and other observations. 6.5 Ambient temperature and humidity. 6.6 Name of operator and date of test.
