19、q4T 9 Page 3 EN 2558:1997 1 Scope This standard specifies a method for determining the volatile content in carbon fibre preimpregnates for aerospace use. 2 Normative references This European Standard incorporates by dated or undated reference provisions from other publications. These normative refer

20、ences are cited at the appropriate places in the text and the publications are listed hereafter. For dated references, subsequent amendments to or revisions of any of these publications apply to this European Standard only when incorporated in it by amendment or revision. For undated references the

21、latest edition of the publication referred to applies. EN 2743 Aerospace series - Reinforced plastics - Standard procedures for conditioning prior to testing 1) 3 Principle Measurement of the loss in mass due to exposure of a specimen to an elevated temperature for a specified time. This loss is exp

25、2558:1997 5.2 Number and distribution A minimum of three specimens shall be used. They shall : - be evenly distributed across the width of the sample ; - have their centres positioned along a straight line. See figure 1 for wide woven fabrics, figure 2 for narrow woven fabrics and figure 3 for unidi

26、rectional sheet or tape. 28、8:1997 6 Procedure 6.1 Conditioning 6.1.1 The amount of preimpregnate required for testing shall be sampled and then conditioned in the test atmosphere (see 6.2) for a minimum of 2 h, unless otherwise specified. Preimpregnates stored at ambient temperature 6.1.2 The preimpregnate, suitably packed in

29、 an airtight and solvent resistant bag to prevent moisture pick- up, shall be allowed to reach ambient temperature over a period of time depending on its mass. This time shall not be less than 8 h. Preimpregnates stored below ambient temperature When the material has reached ambient temperature, the

30、 amount required for testing shall be sampled and then conditioned in the test atmosphere (see 6.2) for a minimum of 2 h, unless otherwise specified. 6.2 Atmosphere for testing EN 2743, condition class B. 6.3 After conditioning, the sample shall be maintained in the test atmosphere. Unless otherwise

31、 specified, tests shall be carried out within 6 h. Time interval between conditioning and testing 6.4 Tests 6.4.1 Cut the specimens. 6.4.2 the nearest milligram. Weigh the tray (m3) after bringing it to constant mass by successive heating operations, to 6.4.3 Remove the protective films from the spe

32、cimen. 6.4.4 Weigh the specimen with its tray to the nearest milligram (m,). 6.4.5 material standard and ensure that the hot air circulates well around the specimen. Place the specimen with its tray in the oven maintained at the temperature specified in the 6.4.6 oven. After the time specified in th

33、e material standard remove the specimen and tray from the 6.4.7 Allow it to cooi-down to room temperature in the desiccator. 6.4.8 Weigh the specimen with its tray to the nearest milligram (+l. 34、ml m2 m3 is the volatile content expressed as a percentage of the initial mass ; is the initial mass of the specimen and its tray, in grams ; is the mass of the specimen and its tray, after heating, in grams ; is the mass of the tray, in grams. 8 Health and safety requirements It is the responsibili

35、ty of the user of this standard to adopt appropriate health and safety precautions. It shall include the following : - number of this standard ; - all data ensuring the traceability of the material (trade mark, identification marking, date of receipt etc.) ; - all information regarding the sampling

36、procedure ; - form and dimensions of specimens ; - period of conditioning ; - test atmosphere, for example temperature, relative humidity if these differ from 6.2 ; - time interval between conditioning and testing (see 6.3) ; - temperature and time of exposure in the oven if they differ from the mat

37、erial standard ; - individual values and arithmetic mean of the volatile content, - any incident which may have affected the results.
