Theparticularrequirementinrelationtotheabilityofhearingprotectorstoreducenoisebelowdailylimitlevelsis addressedinthestandardbyrequiringthesoundattenuationofthehearingprotectors,measuredinaccordance withEN248691,tobenotlessthanaspecifiedminimum.Further,byrequiringthatthemeasured

TherequirementsofEN3522areconcernedprimarilywiththephysicalandacousticperformanceoftheear plugs.Itcoversdisposable,reusable,custommouldedandheadbandearplugs Inordertoassistuserstoselectthecorr
23、ectsize(s)earplug,anominaldiameter,orrangeofdiameters,oftheear plugsisrequiredtobedeclared(exceptforcustommouldedearplugs). Inthecaseofheadbandearplugs,thestandardspecifiessizingrequirementswhichenablethegreatmajorityof theindustrialpopulationtobefittedsatisfactorilyby”mediumsizerange”earplugs.Popul

Thestandardalsocallsforthevaluesofsoundattenuationaffordedbytheearplugs(measuredinaccordancewith EN248691)inordertoassistpu

Custommouldedandsemiauralearplugsshallnotbesubjectedtothistest. 4.1.2 Headbandearplugs AdjustabilityshallbetestedinaccordancewithEN138191:2002,5.3andthefollowingrequirementssatisfied,as appropriate. 38、nowntobelikelytocauseskinirritation,skindisorders,allergicreactionsnorany otheradverseeffectstohealthwithinthelifetimeoftheuseoftheearplugs. b) Whensubjecttocontactwithsweat,earwaxorwithothermaterialslikelytobefoundintheearcanal,the materialsshallnotbeknowntoundergochangeswithinthelifetimeoftheuseof
39、theearplugsthatwouldresult insignificantalterationtothosepropertiesoftheearplugsthatarerequiredtobeassessedwhentheearplugs areexaminedforcompliancewith4.2and4.3. 4.2.2Construction 4.2.2.1Allpartsofearplugsshallbedesignedandmanufacturedsuchthattheyarenotliabletocausephysical damagetothewearerwhenfitt
40、edandusedaccordingtothemanufacturersinstructions(see5e)and6.2f). 4.2.2.2Anypartoftheearplugsthatislikelytoprotrudeoutsidetheearcanalwhenfittedinaccordancewiththe manufacturersinstructions(see5e)and6.2f)shallbeofsuchaconstructionthatmechanicalcontactwiththe earplugsisunlikelytocauseanyinjurytotheear.
41、 4.2.2.3Wheninsertedinaccordancewiththemanufacturersinstructions(see5e)and6.2f),earplugsshallbe capableofbeingreadilyandcompletelyremovedfromtheearcanalbytheuser,withouttheuseoftoolsor instruments,whentestedusingatestpanelof16subjects. 4.2.2.4Whenearplugsaremarkedreusable(see5d),reclosablepackaging,
42、suitabletoensurehygienicstorage betweenuse,shallbesuppliedwitheachpairofearplugs.
