24、rd operate in transverse electromagnetic mode(TEM)and are suitable for use in a wide range of digital and analogue applicationsincluding CATV, radio frequency systems,instrumentation, broadcasting,telecommunications and data network systems. Various constructions and materialsprovide for indoor and
25、outdoor applications, including underground and overheadinstallations, and other environmental protection characteristics.Generally,cables are designed for use in 50 Ohm and 75 Ohm characteristic impedancesystems, although other types (e.g. 93/95 Ohm) are also covered.Coaxial cables defined by this
26、standard maybe incorporated into hybrid cableconstructions with optical fibre or multi-element cable components.All cables covered by this standard may be subjected to voltages greater than 50 V a.c.or 75 V d.c. However,these cables are not intended for direct connection to the mainselectricity supp

47、terial4.2.2 Conductor constructionThe construction and material of the inner conductor shall be as specified in the relevantcable specification.Where the inner conductor consists of a single wire or tube, there shall be no joint in thewire or tube made subsequent to the last drawing operation.Joints
48、 in individual strands of a stranded copper inner conductor shall be cold pressurewelded, brazed or silver soldered using a non acid flux such that the strand diametershall not be increased.No joint in an individual strand shall be within 0,3 m of a joint in any other individualstrand.4.3 Dielectric
49、The dielectric material(s) shall meet the requirements of the relevant part(s) ofEN 50290-2-20 or otherwise, as detailed in the appropriate sectional specification. Thedielectric insulation shall be composed of one or more suitable materials. The dielectricmay be airspaced, semi-airspaced or solid.The dielectric shall be continuous and as uniform as possible. When required, thethickness of the insulation shall
