SCOPEThese specifica

2、tions define the performance requirements for the finish ofbronze surfaces which are elect roplated after applications of fused glass,porcelain or vitreous type finishes.2. APPLICATIONThese specifications were released originally for finishes used on bronzesurf aces to produce a jewelry appearance f

3、or exterior or interiorautomotive parts. It is specified where corrosion protec tion and appearanceare the primary requisites.3. REQUIREMENTSRequir ements in these specifications refer to the ornament assembly.Additional performance requirem ents, listed on the engineering drawing forindividu al pie

4、ces of the assembly such as plated bezels, fasteners andadhesives must also be met.3.1 APPEARANCEShall match the approved Styling master.3.2 ADHESIONNo dela mination of layers or insert(s) from the bezel is permittedafter exposure to any resistance test in these specifications.3.3 PLATING REQUIREMEN

6、corrosion on frontal orperpendicular surfaces or runout to these surfaces from siderecessed surfaces when exposed for 3 complete cycles in thesequence listed below:. 82 3 EC for 2 h. 23 2 EC for 1 h. -34 1 EC for 2 h. 23 2 EC for 1 h. 16 h CASS test per FLTM BQ 5-13.4 HEAT RESISTANCENo change in col

No evidence of crazing, checking, warping or other surfacedegradation. No greater degree of fading, dulling or chalking ofsubsu rface c

8、olors than that exhibited by the sampleorigi nally approved by the affected product engineeringof fice. Blotchy or streaky appearance shall be consideredfailure.3.6 FLORIDA EXPOSURE (For Initial Qualification)ESB-M12P1-C1 Under GlassESB-M12P1-C2 DirectAfter 12 months minimum exposure at 5 E facing s

9、outh in the Miami,Florida area, there shall be:. No e vidence of crazing, checking, warping or other surfacedegradation. No g reater degree of fading, dulling, or chalking of subsurfacecolors than that exhibited by the sample originally approved by theaffected product engineering office. Blotchy or

10、streaky appearanceshall be considered failure.3.7 SAMPLINGAcceptance testing for conformance to Thermal Cy cle - Corrosion (para3.3.1) and Weathering Resistance (para 3.5) will be run at thefrequency specified in Appendix D of Q-101. Suppliers achieving the“Q1“ rating will be made exempt from this r

12、roperties, composition,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Material

13、s Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed b

14、y this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, unlessa different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by ther

15、esp onsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approvalof thei r materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity its own laboratory rep ort to the specification (test results, notnominal values), the material designation and code number, and testspecim ens for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be addedto the Engineering Material Approved Source List.
