2、308-AINACTIVE ESB-M4D308-D1. SCOPEThe material defined by this specification is a precolored black, highimpact, injection extrusion molding grade of polypropylene copolymer.2. APPLICATIONESB-M4D308-A This specification was released originally for materialused for exterior items requiring high impact

3、 strength,such as fender aprons, which are indirectly exposed toultraviolet light, or for similar applications. ESB-M4D308-D This specification was released originally for interioritems, such as quarter/wheelhouse sound absorbers.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISF

4、ord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/orthermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The curves established for initial approval shall constitute thereference standard and shall be kept on file at CentralLaboratory. All samples shall produce curves that corr

5、espond tothe reference standard when tested under the same conditions asthose specified on the master curve.3.2 MOLDING COMPOUND3.2.1 Flow Rate 1.0 - 3.6 g/10 min(ASTM D 1238, Condition “L“)3.2.2 Melting Point, min 149 C(FLTM BO 21-2)3.3 MOLDED TEST SPECIMENThe fo llowing requirements are intended f

The values of thisspecification are based on black color, injection moldedspecimens unless otherwise specified on engineeringdrawing.3.3.2 Conditioning and Test ConditionsAll test values indicated here in are based on materialconditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/

11、IG-1115) with a 12.7 mm diameter steel impact head and 100x 100 x 3.2 mm injection molded samples in a cold boxoperated at -40 C for 5 h. Remove impact tester andplace on the floor or any suitable non-energy absorbingsurface. Impact samples within 10 s after removal fromcold box. No sample shall sho

They shall also befree of other contamination.3.4.3 Impact Strength Gardner, at -40 C, min 2.0 J(Test Method per para 3.3.10)3.5 ESB-M4D308-D FLAMMABILITY 3.5.1 In order to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle SafetyStandard No. 302, the materials, portions of components,and composites shall no

14、t burn, or transmit a flameacross its surface, at a rate of more than 101 mm permin. To demonstrate compliance, the sample size andmethod of testing shall be in accordance with FLTM BN24-2.3.5.2 Performance - Environmental Aging RequirementAll materials, portions of components, and compositesdefined

15、 by this specification that have not beentreated, modified or reformulated and exceed a max burnrate of 76 mm per min as specified by the FlammabilityLot Sampling Plan of FLTM BN 24-2, must be evaluated forpermanency of the materials flame retardant propertiesper ESB-M25P3-A according to the acceler

17、ed or reformulated to conform to Flammability LotSampling Plan of FLTM BN 24-2, regardless of max burnrate, must be evaluated for both permanency ofmaterials flame retardant properties and changes inmechanical, chemical and physical properties per ESB-M25P3-A applicable to the basic materials catego

18、ry ofthis particular specification.3.5.3 Flammability Test ProgramMaterials, portions of components, and compositesgoverned by this specification must also comply with therequirements of ES-M3AB-11014-AA.3.6 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYMaterial supplied to this specification must be equivalent to thator

19、iginally approved. Changes in formulation or processing shallnot be made without prior approval as described in SupplierProcedure I- A.4. APPROVAL OF SUPPLIERSSuppliers to this specification must be approved by the affected productengineering office. Procedure for gaining approval of a specificmaterial to a new/existing ES-M specification is contained in SupplierProcedure I- A. Approved new suppliers will be added to the EngineeringMaterials Approved Source List.
