SCOPE:The material defined by this specification is a heat resistant spacede

2、xtentional layer deadener composed of a bituminous saturated fibrouslayer core with a filled visco-elastic copolymer surface and a pressuresensitive adhesive coating on the other side, protected by a releasematerial which is removed prior to installation. The release material iscoated as required to

3、 provide release from the adhesive and/or blockingresistance in shipping and storage.2. APPLICATION:This specification was released originally for material used as a sounddeadener on roof panels of the 1983-1/2 Topaz/Tempo carlines. Thebonding surface should be smooth and flat or only slightly curve

4、d. Afirm even pressure is necessary to bond the material. A roller isrecommended for this purpose.3. REQUIREMENTS:Based on the material without the release paper, except where noted.3.1. CONDITIONINGAll test values indicated herein are based on material conditionedin a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/

5、- 2 C and 50 +/- 5% relativehumidity for 24 h prior to testing and tested under the samecontrolled conditions.3.2 WEIGHT(ASTM D 461, Avg. of 5) 1.59 +/- 0.16 kg/m 23.3 CONSTRUCTION. To demonstrate compliance, the samplesize and method of testing shall be in a

16、ccordance with FLTM BN24-2.3.15 PERFORMANCE - ENVIRONMENTAL AGINGAll materials, portions of components, and composites defined bythis specification that have not been treated, modified orreformulated and exceed a max burn rate of 3.0 in (76 mm) per minas specified by the Flammability Lot Sampling Pl

17、an of FLTM BN 24-2,must be evaluated for permanency of the materials flame retardantproperties per ESB-M25P3-A according to the acceleratedenvironmental aging requirements applicable to the basic materialscategory of this particular specification.Any material, portions of components, and composites

18、defined bythis specification that have been treated, modified or reformulatedto conform to Flammability Lot Sampling Plan of FLTM BN 24-2,regardless of max burn rate, must be evaluated for both permanencyof materials flame retardant properties and changes in mechanical,chemical and physical properti

20、th the requirementsof ES-D3AB-11014-AA.3.17 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYMaterial supplied to this specification must be equivalent to thatoriginally approved. Changes in formulation or processing shallnot be made without prior approval as described in SupplierProcedure I-A.4. APPROVAL OF SUPPLIERS:Suppl

21、iers to this specification must be approved by the affected productengineering office. Procedure for gaining approval of a specificmaterial to a new/existing ES-M specification is contained in SupplierProcedure I-A. Approved new suppliers will be added to the EngineeringMaterials Approved Source List.5. GENERAL INFORMATION:It is recommended that feasibility trials be conducted for newapplications of this material before issuing final release. Part sizeand location may affect the materials adhesive performance, particularlyif the material is applied before final paint baking.
