2、 SCOPE This specification defines the performance and product requirements for an engine and chassis sealer which will dry without becoming hard and brittle and is resistant to oil, water, anti-freeze and hydrocarbon solutions. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material u
3、sed in sealing studs, plugs, gaskets, and joints. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 Shall be a smooth, homogeneous mixture free fro
4、m lumps, caked material and particles of foreign matter. 3.2 Shall be free of rosins or resins and other properties detrimental to its intended use. 3.3 Shall prevent blow-by seepage or leakage of lubricants and coolants due to compression or vacuum. 3.4 Must have lubricating and anti-seize properti
5、es to enable easy disassembly of mechanical components. 3.5 May be applied by flowing, dipping, brushing, rollcoating, or spraying when packaged in aerosol containers. 3.6 When packaged in an aerosol container, the sealing compound will not cause deterioration of the container and the shelf-life sha
6、ll be in excess of two years. 3.7 Must not represent a potential fire or health hazard when used in a normal manner. 3.8 Must be capable of storage without any detrimental effect for an extended period of time. Supplier shall furnish all necessary information on types of material required for packag
7、ing and on the storage life of the material in each of the product packages supplied. For any particular size package or container for the product, the supplier shall furnish information on safe storage practice and recommendations as to maximum and minimum ambient temperatures and direct sun load c
8、onditions at which the product may be stored without any adverse effect. 9、 Quality Control Supplement will be issued to cover each approved material. The selected engineering approved source shall furnish appropriate chemical and physical properties along with the production tolerance limits that apply to the material(s) upon which approval was given. The agreed upon valu
10、es and limits will be issued to Quality Control by the affected product engineering office. These values will then be used by Quality Control for ongoing quality verifications. The Quality Control Supplement is an integral requirement of this specification. If more than one source supplies material
11、to this specification, a Quality Control Supplement will be issued for each specific approved material. 3.10 LABELING 3.10.1 Provisions of this specification are applicable when material is used according to labeling directions. Any precautions involved in the use of the material must be clearly sta
12、ted on the product label. 3.10.2 The label(s) for the material(s) must comply to the Federal Hazardous Substances Act and all other provisions under the Consumer Product Safety Commission and all other applicable federal, state and local regulations. Supplier shall furnish the affected product engin
13、eering office with the label(s). 3.10.3 Supplier shall furnish certification that the composition of his product has been examined and that the label recommended is in compliance with the Federal Hazardous Substances Act and all other provisions under the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Complete
14、d Material Health and Safety Data Sheets and Hazardous Substances Data Sheets must be submitted by the supplier to the Ford Motor Company toxicologist. 3.10.4 If applicable, supplier shall furnish a copy of the laboratory report wherein the product was evaluated under the procedures required by the
15、Federal Hazardous Substances Act. 3.10.5 Supplier must furnish detailed application instructions and specific usage information for container labels. This portion of the label information must be approved by the affected product engineering office. 3.10.6 If the label submitted by the supplier conta
16、ins any advertising claims, suitable corroborative testing data must also be furnished. Such claims and data are encouraged. 3.11 MARKING Containers and cartons must be marked with a code indicating source and compounding date of the material. Supplier must furnish this code to the affected product
17、engineering office. Container marking may be waived if approved in writing by the affected product engineering office. 3.12 The test report data furnished by the supplier showing compliance with this specification shall give the specific test methods followed and shall give specific answers to gener
18、alized requirements. 19、hods are preferred) and procedures should be followed where such methods are known, otherwise the methods of evaluation should be explained in detail. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 Comparative performance data ratings utilizing the requirements outlined above, comparing the proposed material(s) to presently marketed Ford Motor Company products, are encouraged.
