2、mance requirements for a pumpable,expanding anti-flutter material.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was originally released for sealers used to isolateinner fr om outer FRP panels. Anti-flutter materials are required toperfo rm in a number of applications and closure designs. Each designand/or applic
3、ation has unique requirements. Selection of the appropriatematerial should therefore be ba sed on a jury evaluation (i.e. NVH) as wellas the required functional trial.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually a

Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY/THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its opti
5、on, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. All samples sha ll produce IR spe

Rub a portion of the diluted material 100 t imes between two pi
12、ecesof flat, clean plate glass. The appearance of scratches on theglass plate shall be considered failure.3.9 STORAGE STABILITYThe material shall be stored at temperatures bel ow 40 C away from allsources of heat and sunlight. Heat greatly acce lerates aging. Underthese storage conditions, the shelf
13、 life of the material shall be 3months. When these mat erials are stored at temperatures below 23 C,they shall be conditioned at room temperature prior to application.Adequ ate conditioning permits the material to obtain its optimumapplication properties.Ma terial may not be used after the expiratio
14、n date unless thesupplier has given written documentation to Mate rials Engineering andthe aff ected Manufacturing Plant that the material conforms torequire ments outlined in the material control plan. The suppliershall also indicate in the letter the number of additional days thematerial will be u
15、sable.3.10 QUALITYMateria l shall be a smooth homogeneous product free from abrasiveparticl es, it shall be consistent color and texture, and free fromobjectionable odors dur ing normal storage. It shall be suitable forthe intended application.3.11 FUNCTIONAL APPROVALMaterials being evaluated for ap
16、proval to this s pecification shall besubject ed to a production trial. Functional trial results must beapp roved by the affected assembly operation and Design Engineeringoffice. Results shall be made available to Materials Engineeringprior to material approval and release.3.12 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMEN
17、TSSpecific requirements for material and/or manufa ctured parts shall bespecified on the Engineering drawing, Engineerin g parts specificationand/or performance specifications. 19、olor, processing, or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology, andthe affected Materials Engineering activity. Test data, tes
20、tsamples, and a new code identification are to be submitted with therequest.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations, or Ford apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat eria
21、ls defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresp onsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approvalof thei r materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffe cted Purchasing, Design, and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier
22、 shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity its own laboratory rep ort to the specification (test results, notnominal values), the material designation and code number, and testspecim ens for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be addedto the Engineering Material Approv
