2、se. 1. SCOPE. 1.1 Scope. This specification establishes the requirements for manu- facture and acceptance of a detonating cord, critical item, referred to herein as the cord. I 2. 10、sheath containing 2.50 +0.25, -0.00 grains per foot (gr/ft) of Hexanitrostilebene (HNS), Type II, Grade A explosive recrystallized from an approved organic solvent system. 3.2 Characteristics. 3.2.1 Performance. 3.2.1 1 Detonation velocity. The cord shall have a detonation velocity of not less than

11、6,000 meters per second. 3.2.1.2 Low temperature. The cord shall withstand a temperature of -62 degrees Celsius (OC) for 336 hours without degradation of performance. 3.2.1.3 High temprature. The cord shall withstand a temperature of +74OC for 336 hours without degradation of performance. 3.2.1.4 Im

12、Dact resistance. The cord. when mounted on a steel I plate, shall not detonate, deflagrate, or burn when impacted with a 20.0 k0.5 pound solid-steel ball dropped from a height of 30.0 +0.5, -0.0 inches. . 8 3.2.1.5 Thermal shock. The cord shall withstand alternate sequential. exposure to temperature

13、s of -48OC for 90 minutes, +75OC for 30 minutes, and +254OC for 5 minutes without degradation of performance, and shall not constitute a safety hazard after exposure to thermal shock. 3.2.1,6 Plinimm bend radius. The cord shall withstand being bent on a radius of 0.5 inch without visual signs of cra

14、cking or splitting of the metal sheath or degradation of performance. 3.2.1.7 High temperature (safety). The cord shall withstand alternate sequential exposure to temperatures of +99 k3OC for 2 hours, +280 k3OC for 5 minutes, and +225 k3OC for 20 minutes without detonating or con- stituting a safety

The design and construction of the cord sha

16、ll be as follows. 3.3.1.1 Material. The materials used in the manufacture of the cord shall be as follows: a. Sheath: Seamless fine aluminum of 99.9 percent minimum pur i ty . 3.3.1.2 Dimensions. The cord outside diameter shall be not less than 0.073 inch nor greater than 0.076 inch, 3.3.1.3 Splicin

17、g. The cord shall be a continuous length, and shall be free of splices. 3.3.1.4 Core load. The cord core load shall be 2.50 +0.25, -0.00 gr/ft. 3.3.1.5 Explosive uniformity. The explosive core and metal sheath shall be continuous and shall be free from gaps, voids, inclusions, or impurities. 3.3.2 S

18、tandards of manufacture. When specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.2.2), the contractor shall include written certi- fication accompanied by objective quality evidence as defined in MIL- STD-109, that the materials, processes, and parts used in the cord meet the requirements of Section

19、 3. 3.3.3 Identification and marking. Each piece of cord shall be legibly identified to the run from which the cord was cut. On its leading end, attach a tag or tape with the suppliers lot number, sublot number, and sequence number marked in permanent ink. Individual lengths shorter than as specifie

20、d herein shall be marked by sequence number which iden- tify the position of that sequence length within a sublot (see Figure 1). 22、ontract or purchase order, the contractor shall furnish a preproduction sample consisting of one completed drawtube for first article ,inspection and approval (see 4.1.2.1 and 6.2.1). The preproduction sample shall be manufactured using the sam methods, materials, processes, and pro- cedures propose

23、d for production. the preproduction sample shall be totally at the risk of the contractor. Any changes in material, design, and processes, used after the manu- facture of the preproduction sample, may be cause for resubmission of a preproduction sample. Any production prior to acceptance of 3.4.11 R

24、etest. At the discretion of the procuring activity, prepru- duction tests, or a,ny portion thereof, shall be repeateti under any of the following conditions: a. b. C. d. e. QUALITY ASSUIIANCE PROVISIONS, 4.1 Responsibility for inspect_ion. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or

30、 purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein (see 6.2.3). Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his.own or any other facilities suitable or the performance of the inspection req

31、uire- ments specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in this specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure that supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Clasgific

32、ation of inspections. The gxaminations and tests specified herein shall be classified as follows: a. Preproduction inspections (see 4.1.2.1). b, Quality conformance inspections (see 4.2). 4.1.2 Special tests and examinations. 4.1.2.1 Preproduction inspections. “he preproduction sample of one complet

33、ed drawhbe shall be subjected to the examinations and tests of Table I in the sequence shown. 4.1.2.2 Preproduction sample preparation. The preproduction sample of 3.4 shall undergo Group I examinations. SubsampleS, 160. - +1 inches in length, shall then be taken from the original leading and termin

34、al ends and from each 100 55 feet of the preproduction sample, however, no fiwer than 10 subsamples are required. Each subsample shall be assigned a unique number for identification and tagged in the same manner as a sublot. Each subsample shall be sectioned for testing as follows: a. Cut off 2.0 50

35、.1 inches from each end and discard. b. Cut off the succeeding 6.0 50.1 inches and reserve for core load tests (see 4.3.3). t c. Failure of one or more cords in the preproduction sample to pass any of the preproduction tests shall cause rejection of the preproduction sample. 4.1.2.4 Disposition of preproduction sample, If results of the

41、pre- production sample tests of Table I are acceptable, unused portions of the preproduction sample cord may be marked for use in hardware appli- cations upon receipt of written approval from the procuring activity (see 6.2.1). 4.1.2.5 Preproduction inspection report. When specified in the con- trac

42、t or purchase order (see 6.2.2), results of the preproduction inspec- tions shall be prepared for the procuring activity. contain the following,information, including a certification which attests that the information provided is correct and applicable to the product being submitted: The report shal
