2、use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification establishes the design, performance, and acceptance requirements for the Guided Weapon Control -Monitor Set AN/AWW-l2A herein referred to as the pod. a major component part of the data link commu

3、nication network, providing transmission of command signals and recepion of video data, between a control aircraft and a Walleye guided weapon. The pod is for airborne use and performs as 2. In the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and the references cited herein (except for associated detail specifications, specification sheets or MS standards), the text of this specification shall take

16、precedence. Nothing in this specification, however, shall supersede appl i cab1 e 1 aws and regul at ions un1 ess a speci fi c exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. When specified in the contract or purchase order, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (se

17、e 4.4 and 6.3). 3.2 Parts and materials. 3.2.1 General. Parts and materials used in the control -monitor sets shall conform to the requirements of the drawings and subsidiary specifications listed in the data list (DL) specified herein, except insofar as errors on the drawings may be incompatible wi

18、th the requirements of this specification and related specifications. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, proposed changes, either to correct drawing discrepancies or to effect improvements, shall be subject to acceptance by the procuring activity. 3.2.1.1 Nonstandard parts and material appr

19、oval, Approval for the use of nonstandard parts and materials shall be obtained by the contractor as outlined in MIL-E-5400. 21、rawings and subsidiary specifications listed in DL 1035AS2000, except insofar as errors of omission or commission on the drawings may be incompatible with the requirements of this specification. In any case, it is a condition of final acceptance that the pods manufactured shall meet all the performa

22、nce requirements of this specification and the appropriate test documents. Proposed changes, either to correct drawing discrepancies or to effect improvements, shall be specifically approved by the procuring activity prior to their incorporation. l Di ameter 1/ Vol Ume Weight 3.3.1 Physical characte

23、ristics. 3.3.1.1 Description. The pod shall consist of three major sections: The forward radome assembly, the aft radome assembly, and the casing (center body) assembly. All principle dimensions and locations of particular features, including center-of-gravity, shall be as specified in table I and s

24、hown on figure 1. 3.3.1.2 Total weight. Total weight of the pod shall be not greater than 645 pounds. 15 inches 10.3 cubic feet 645 pounds TABLE I. Weight and dimensions for the pod. 25、.1.3 Flight requirements. The Control-Monitor Set, Guided Weapon AN/AWW-lZA shall be in accordance with the DL 1035AS2000 and shall be functionally compatible and flight certifiable as an emergency jettisonable pod on the following aircraft: a. F/A-18, b. A-7B/E. C. TA-IC. The pod shall be designed

The pod shall operate with required performance, continuously or intermittently

28、, for a period of not less than 100 hours or 1 year withut the necessity for readjustment of any controls which are inaccessible to the operator during normal use. 3.3.2.2 Operating life. The-pod shall have a total operating life of not less than 300 hours with minimal servicing and replacement of p

29、arts. 3.3.2.3 Reliability in mean-time-between-failure (MTBF). The pod shall have a specified mean (operating) time between failures (MTBF) of 50 hours when tested and accepted as specified in 4.5.3. 3,3.2.4 Time totalizing meter. The following units shall contain time totalizing meters in accordanc

30、e with MIL-M-7793: Unit Type Meter a. Signai Control Processor, 1035AS2004 M7793/6 - O0 1 b. Radio Transmitter, 1035AS255 M7793/6 - O0 1 3.3.3 Cabling and connections. 3.3.3.1 Umbilical connector. Input/output terminations to the pod for primary power, control signals, and audio/video information sh

31、all be made through the umbilical connector, AlWlJ1, mounted on top of the casing assembly. The connector shall be type M81582/1E03SA and shall mate with aircraft umbi 1 i cal connector type M81582/02E03PAl. pin number assignment, function, and current/voltage requirements shall be as specified in I

32、nterface Control Drawing 1035AS2001. A receptacle cover assembly conforming to Drawing 2300287 shall be provided to protect the umbilical connector when the pod is not in use, The main cable assembly, terminating in the umbilical connector, shall run the length of the casing assembly and interconnec

33、t the main component assemblies. 3.3.4 Controls. The umbi 1 i cal connector 3.3.4.1 Internal adjustments. No adjustments to the pod shall be required prior to its use with the following exceptions. be preset to the desired position; the circuit breaker, CB1, must be placed in the ON position; the TO

34、NE/FREQUENCY SHIFT KEYING (FSK) switch on the Signal Control Processor (SCP) must be set to TONE; the channel select switch on the transmitter assembly must be set to match the channel of the weapon on A7 aircraft (F/A-18 is cockpit selectable); the video tape recorder must be loaded with tape. The

Physical and functional interchangeability shall exist for all units and replaceable assemblies, subassemblies, and parts of the pod in accordance with MIL-E-5400. The drawings listed in DL 1035AS2000 shall be used as the standard to measure interchang

36、eability for the pod. 3.3.6 Interference control. The generation of electromagnetic interference by Lhe pod and the vulnerability of the pod to electromagnetic interference shall be controlled within the litnits of MIL-STD-461 for Class Al and Class B1 equipment. 38、s of MIL-STD-461. 3.3.7 Maintainabil it.y. Maintainability provisions shall be incorporated within the design to provide for service, access, and repair of all assemblies. the replacement of major components within the pod shall be accomplished without soldering and without the need for special tool

Normal routine testing of the pod shall be accomplished using the special test equipment listed in the operation and maintenance instruction manual for the pod in addition to the standard test equipment normally available in intermediate maintenance shops. 3.3.7.1 Test connections. without disass

40、embly except that the forward and aft antenna terminations shall be disconnected so that RF test equipment may either monitor or supply signals to the antenna feed cable. Normal testing of the pod shall be accomplished 3.3.7.2 Built-in-Test. The major components that comprise the pod shall have buil

41、t-in-test (BIT) features to check critical parameters. 3.3.7.3 Periodic maintenance. The pod shall require only yearly maintenance except for the following: a. Periodic servicing of the desiccant breather system and desiccant storage bags shall be required. b. The video cassette tape recorder shall

42、require periodic cleaning of the recording heads and tape path to ensure specified recordings. 33.8 Transportabilitv. The pod shall be transportable by air, rail , truck, and ship when mounted in a shipping container as specified in section 5. 3.3.9 Storase life. 3.3.9.1 Packaqed condition. The pod

43、shall be capable of being stored in unsheltered areas when packaged to the requirements of section 5. storage environmental extremes shall be any dew point between -65OC and +7loC. The normal 3.3.9.2 Ungackaqed condition. The pod shall be capable of storage in the unpackaged, assembled condition for

44、 not less than 2 years, in the weapon ready storage area of an aircraft carrier or shore installation, without impairment to form, fit, or function. Normal storage environment extremes shall be any dew point from -54OC to +6OoC. storage. The desiccant breather system and desiccant storage bags shall

All decals, nameplates, and marking shall be affixed to the pod in accordance with DL 1035AS2000, and all referenced marking specifications, documents, and drawings therein . 3.3.10.2 Serial numbers. Serial numbers will be assigned by the procuring activity for

The forward and aft radome assemblies shall be marked “NO STEP RADOME“ with warning decals on each side surface and upper surface. 1342AS136. The cont

The radome assembly, diplexer, video receiver, and transmitter shall be marked “CONFIDENTIAL“ in accordance with Drawings 1064AS1470, 196AS298, 196AS501-2, 196AS238, and 1035AS2000. 3.3.11 Safety. System safety requirements shall be in accordance with MIL-E-5400. 3.3.11.1 Flight safety. Flight safety procedures applicable
