2、s specification covers requirements for one type highly-polished brass buckle, keeper, slide, and snap fasteners. 2. In the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and the references cited herein, the text of the specification shall take precede

14、nce. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3.1 Standard SmD1es. Standard Samples are furnished solely for guidance and infomation to the contractor (see 6.3). Variation from the specification may appear in the sam

When specified (see 602)r a sample 3.3 Materials. When tested as specified in 4.5.1 and 4.6.1, the buckle(Enc1uding brass rod), keeper, slide, and th

16、e shell of the snap fastener cap shall be made of a copper base alloy having a chemical composition of 84.Q to 86.0 percent copper, 0.05 percent maximum lead, 8.05 percent maximum iron, 0.015 percent maximum total other elements and the remaining percent zinc. The copper base alloy shall be free fro

The design o

18、f the buckle, keeper, slide, and I snap fasteners shall conform in all respects to U.S. Marine Corps design on figure 1 and the following: 3.4.1 Buckle. The buckle shall have a removable Marine Corps insignia, two belt fasteners, and a brass rod at each side to engage the belt fasteners, as shown in

19、 figure 1. The overall length of the brass rods and the shoulder length at each end of the rods shall be such that after assembly of the rods to the buckle, the ends of the rods shall be flush with the top and bottom sides of the buckle. The belt fastener for the left side of the buckle shall be per

20、manently attached to the brass rod and shall be free rolling around the rod after attachment. to 3/16 inch diameter holes shall be made through the front of the buckle for attaching the Marine Corp insignia. The holes shall be made to correspond with the position of the screw posts on the insignia a

21、nd placed so that when the insignia is attached, it will be centered vertically and horizontally on the buckle with the eagle upright. shall conform to MIL-I-15665/23, dash 1, finish 1, except it shall be provided with two screw posts and brass knurled nuts, without washers and the back of the insig

22、nia shall be dabbed to a 10-1/8 inch radius so that a closer fit exists between the face of the buckle and the emblem. positioned on the back of the insignia as shown on figure 1, and shall be 3/16 to 1/4 inch long after hard soldering to the insignia. 23、a for the buckle The screw posts shall be 3.4.3 KeeRer and slide. The keeper and slide shall conform to figure 1. Two keepers and one slide are required for each belt. 3.4.4 Snap fasteners. The snap fasteners shall conform to MIL-F-10884 except button diameters shall be 6/10 inch and the material an

24、d finish for the shell of the button shall be as specified in 3.3. and 3.5. The snap fasteners for securing the ends of the pistol belt shall be brass conforming to style 2A; finish 1; MS27981 parts nos. 1 (construction A), 3, 4, and 6. The snap fasteners for securing the ammunition magazine to the

25、pistol belt shall be brass conforming to style 2; finish 1; MS27980 part nos. 1 (construction A) and 6. 3.5 Construction. The construction of the buckle, keeper, slide, and snap fastener cap shall match the approved sample for color and finish. The front, top and bottom outer surfaces of the buckle;

27、99706 0419818 3 MIL-H-21155D(MC) shell for the cap of the snap fasteners shall be highly polished to a mirror-like finish, free from pits, dents, nicks, scratches and other defects affecting the intended appearance. A11 other surfaces and edges shall be bright, clean, smooth, and free from burrs, to

28、ol marks, sharp edges, and roughness. 0 3.6 Finished measurements. The finished buckle, slide, and keeper shall conform to the measurements specified in figure 1. The snap fasteners shall conform to the measurement in 3.4.4. 3.9 Markinq. The manufacturers name, trade name, trade- mark, or other iden

29、tifying mark and the letters ttGItt shall be legible and inconspicuously stamped into the back of the buckle and keeper and into the back of the slides center bar in such a way that the surface opposite the marking shall show no signs of penetration or unevenness, or cause distortion on any part of

30、the items. 3.8 Workmanship. The buckle, keeper, slide and snap fastener shall conform to the quality and grade of product established by this specification. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibilitv for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor

31、 is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Gov

32、ernment reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items shall meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5.

33、The inspection-set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Governmen

34、t for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. inspection, as part of manufacturing operations, ia an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance to requirements. This does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Gover

When certificates of compliance are submitted,

36、 the Government reserves the right to check test such items to determine the validity of the certification. 4.2 Classification of inspection. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.4). b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.5). 4.

37、3 Inspection Conditions. When specified in the contract or purchase order, all inspections shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-105. 4.4 First article inspection. When first article is required, inspection and testing shall be made on a completely fabricated snap fastener (each style), slid

38、e, buckle, and keeper for all provisions of this specification. 4.5 Quality conformance inspection. 4.5.1 Component and material inspection. In accordance with 4.1 above, components and materials shall be inspected and tested in accordance with all requirements of referenced specifications. Testing

39、shall be performed on the copper base alloy referenced in 3.3.for chemical composition. The lot shall be expressed in terms of 1 pound and the requirements shall be applicable to lot average with two determinations for each element. for copper and 0.01 percent for remaining elements. The sample unit

40、 shall be 8 ounces or equivalent of a composite sample. The result shall be reported to the nearest 0.1 percent 4.5.2 Examination of the end item. The end item shall be examined for the defects listed in 4.5.2.1 and 4.5.2.2. The sample unit for these examinations shall be one buckle, slide, keeper,

41、and snap fastener (each style). The inspection level shall be II (see 6.5). 4.5.2.1 General defects.
