SCOPE1.1 This specification defines gene

2、ral requirements for the markingof parts and assemblies for solid propellant rocket motors, prepackaged liquidpropellant rocket engines, and JATO units.1.2 Classification. -Marking covered by this specification shalI beof the following methods and types, as specified:MethodMethodMethodMethodMethodMe

5、lm, For use on Exterior SurfacesHandbook H4-1, H4-2 Federal Supply Code for Manu-facturersREQUIREMENTSGeneral Requirements. -Marking shall comply with the followinggeneral requirements.3.1.1 Location. -The location of marking shall be as required by thedrawings. Marking by methods I and II shall not

6、 be placed nearer than 0.06inches to any corner, fillet or sharp edge.3.1.2 Sequence of Marking. -Marking shall remain visible after theapplication of final protective finish. Marking shall not mar or penetrate plating,anodizing, paint, or other protective coating. If a protective finish is broken,s

7、uitable repairs approved by the procuring activity shall be made.3.1.3 Size. -Unless otherwise specified, size of characters used formarking shall be appropriate for the part. For rocket motor assemblies, size andspacing of characters used for marking shall be as shown in Table I below:NominalUp to

10、eened into the-Marking shall be an impression cut,part with suitable tools.Method II - Electric Etch or Scribe. -Marking shall be apermanent impression made with either an electrically operated vibratory scriber orwith an electric arc between the part and a suitable scriber.3.2.3 Method III - Ink St

11、a g or Stenci ling. -Marking shalI be madeusing an indelible ink which contrasts the color of the part and is applied bymeans of a rubber stamp, stencil , or other method which does not scratch or damagethe surface of the part. The marking shal I then be covered with cIear lacquer or var-nish.3.2.4

12、Method IV - Decal. -Marking shall consist of a decal whichcomplies with MIL-D-8634.3.2.5 Method V - Tag. -Marking shall be made on cardboard tag tiedto part by string or wire.3.2.6 Method VI - Integral. -Marking shall be incorporated into diesor molds so that it automatically becomes a feature of pa

13、rts which are stamped, cast,forged, etc.3.3 Types of Marking. -The following types of marking contentshall be used as specified on the drawings.3.3.1 Type 1 - Component Part Marking, Non-serialized. -The partshall be marked with BuWeps drawings number, applic able revision letter, andmanufacturers i

14、dentification as assigned by handbook H-4 or an approved symbol.3.3.2 Type 2 - Component Part Marking, Serialized -The part shallbe marked with BuWeps drawings number, applicable revision letter, part serialnumber, and manufacturers identification as assigned by handbook H-4 or anapproved symbol.3.3

15、3 Type 3 - Loaded Motor Assembly Marking. -Marking of loadedmotor assembIies shall contain the following minimum information, arrangedapproximately as shown and reading from motor forward end to aft end.Name of Item Mk XX Mod XXBUWEPS DWG. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspectionsset forth in the specification where such in
