2、ms Command, Department of the Navy, and is available for use by all departments and agencies of the Department of Defense. 1, SCOPE 1.1 Scope, This specification covers chromium-nickel-molybdenum- vanadium steel bars and forgings. 1.2 Classification. 1.2.1 Type. Bars and forgings are of the followin

3、gs types in accord- ance with the methods of manufacturing (see 3.3.1.1) : s Type I - Air-melted steel Type II - Vacuum-melted steel 1.2.2 Grades. Forgings are classified in three grades in accordance with the methods of testing (see 3.3.1.2), 1.2.3 Composition. Bars and forgings are .classified in

When specified in the contract or order, a preproductibn samde shall be manufactured using the procedure pro- posed for the production lot. The sample shall consist of suf

16、Materials and treatments of materials. Unless otherwise speci- fied in the contract or order, bars and forgings shall be manufactured and treated in accordance with the requirements specified herein. 3.2.2 Gages. The supplier shall Frovide whatever gages are necessary and adequate to assure that the

17、 bars and forgings will meet the requirements specified herein and the dimensions of the applicable. . drawings, 3.3 Physical characteristics, 3.3.1 Material. The bars and forgings shall b fine-grain, elec ric- furnace-grade steel and shall conform to the applicable requirements of this specificatio

18、n, 3.3.1.1 Type. 3.3,1.1,1 Type I, air-melted steel. Type I steel shall be manufac- tured in accordance with industry standards for electric-furnace-grade steel, 3.3.1.1.2 Type II, vacuum-melted steel. Type II steel shall be pro- duced by consumable-electrode, vacuum remelting or by vacuum-induction

19、 melting, Type II steel shall conform to composition A. 3.3.1,2 Grade. Forgings shall be provided in three grades and shall be classified as grade A, B, or C in accordance with the tests to which they have been subjected. The tests for bars and each grade of forgings shall be as specified in table I

20、, 3.3K1.3 Chemical composition. The chemical composition of the steel, as determined by a check analysis of the deliverable product, shall con- form to the requirements of table II. The procedure for determining the inclusion ratings shall be performed in accordance with method A, of ASTM E 45. The in

Forging stock shall be of such size and dimensions that the work accomplished in farming to finished shape shall result in approximately uniform grain size throughout. employed shall produce an internal gra

43、ques 3.3.2.3 Welding. Forgings shall not be welded, except as indicated on applicable drawings approved by the procuring activity. 3.3.2.4 Flash. All forgings shall be thoroughly cleaned by tumbling, machining, shot or sand blasting, pickling, or other process approved by the procuring activity, 3.3.2.5.1 Cleanliness, Unless otherwise specified, the steel shall conform to the requirements of the following specifications: a,
