NFPA 556 Guide on Methods for Evaluating Fire Hazard to Occupants of Passenger Road Vehicles 2016 Edition This edition of NFPA 556, Guide on Methods for Evaluating Fire Hazard to Occupants of Passenger Road Vehicles, was prepared by the Technical Committee on Hazard and Risk of Contents and Furni

This edition of NFPA 556 was approved as an American National Standard on June 15, 2015. Origin and Development of NFPA 556 The 2011 edition was the rst for

Those statistics and research prompted the committees opinion that the current method of evaluating vehicle

NFPA 556 identies major re safety concerns associated with passenger road vehicles and provides guidance on newer evaluation methods with the aim of decreasing the re hazard and re risk associated with such vehicles. In addition, NFPA 556 provides guidance and tools for
34、 those persons investigating methods to decrease the re hazard or re risk in passenger road vehicles and for a hazard-based assessment for the development of hazardous conditions from re involving passenger road vehicles. The 2016 edition contains new language for noncombustible material criteria an

Table 10.1 has been revised to include test methods and tools for seat materials for school buses and additional evaluation options for windshields based upon ame spread or re resistance testing.
