WEBBING, TEXTILE, ELASTIC The Parachute Industry Association makes this document available for use by Industry and Government organizations that wish to apply this specification to their products. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification co

3、vers cotton and nylon elastic webbing. 1.2 Classification.The webbing shall be furnished in the following Types, Classes, and Widths as specified in TABLE I (see 6.2). 1.3 Type designation. 16、 In the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein, the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. W

17、hen specified (see 6.2) in the contract or purchase order, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 6.3) in accordance with 4.2. 3.2 Standard. The dyed webbing shall match the standard for shade and appearance, unless otherwise indicated, and shall be equal to or better than the

18、standard with respect to all characteristics for which the standard is referenced (see 6.1). 3.3 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered or environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible, provided that the material meets o

19、r exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs. 3.4 Material. 3.4.1 Cotton yarn. The yarn used in the manufacture of the cotton elastic webbing shall be of a grade and staple length which will meet the requirements of this specificatio

20、n. Testing shall be as specified in 4.6 and 4.7.4 3.4.2 Nylon yarn. The yarn used in the manufacture of the nylon elastic webbing shall be a bright, high tenacity, light and heat resistant polyamide prepared from hexamethylene diamine and adipic acid and its derivatives. The yarn shall have a minimu

21、m melting point of 244 C (471F). The yarn shall not be bleached. Testing shall be as specified in 4.7.4 3.5 Physical requirements. 22、ed in either shuttle or shuttleless loom construction, except Type I, Class 4 which shall be manufactured on a shuttleless loom. See 3.5.1.1 for additional construction requirements for Type I, Class 4 webbing. 3.5.1.1 Type I, Class 4. The webbing shall be a double plain weave and constructed as fol

The drift of the load on the webbing elongated and maintained at 50 percent elongation for 4 hours, shall be not more than 20 percent when tested as specified in 4.7.4. 3.7 Tension set 3.8 . After the webbing has been elongated and maintained at 50 percent elongation for 10 minutes

24、and then allowed to relax for 10 minutes, the webbing tension set (change in length of the sample) shall be not more than 5 percent when tested as specified in 4.7.4. Tension set after heat aging. 28、or 7 days, and after at least 3 hours from the time of removal from the aging oven, it shall meet the tension set requirement when tested as specified in 4.7.4. 3.9 Low temperature elongation resistance. For Class 1 and 2 webbings, the load at 50 percent elongation at 21 2.8C (70 5F) shall be not le

29、ss than 20 percent of the load at 50 percent elongation at -40 2.8C (-40 5F) when tested as specified in 4.7.4. For Class 3 and 4 webbing the value shall be not less than 40 percent when tested as specified in 4.7.4. 3.10 pH. The pH value of the water extract of the dyed webbing shall be no less tha

30、n 5.5 nor more than 9.0 when tested as specified in 4.7.4. 3.11 Color. The color of Types I and II shall be as specified by the procuring activity or order (see 6.2). 3.11.1 Visual Shade Matching.The color of the dyed webbing shall match the standard when viewed using the AATCC Evaluation Procedure

31、9, Option A with sources simulating artificial daylight D75 illuminate with a color temperature of 7500 200K, with illumination of 100 20 foot candles, and shall be a good match to the standard under incandescent lamplight at 2856 200K. 3.11.2 Colorfastness. The dyed webbing shall show colorfastness

32、 to light, water, laundering, perspiration and crocking as follows: Notes: 1/Rated using the AATCC Evaluation Procedure 1, Gray Scale for Color Change. 2/ Rated using the AATCC Evaluation Procedure 2, Gray Scale for Staining. 3/ Rated using the AATCC Evaluation Procedure 8, AATCC 9 - Step Chromatic

33、Transference Scale. 3.12 Length and put-up for Government procurements only. Unless otherwise specified, when the webbing furnished is one inch or less in width, it shall be furnished on fiberboard spools containing 120 to 130 yards with not more than 6 pieces per roll. No piece shall be less than 2

34、 yards in length. When the webbing furnished is over one inch in width, it shall be furnished on fiberboard spools containing 45 to 55 yards with not more than 3 pieces per roll. 36、r by pinning or sewing. 3.13 Fiber identification. When directed in the procurement document or purchase order, each spool of webbing shall be labeled, or ticketed, for fiber content in accordance with the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act. 3.14 Workmanship. The finished webbing shall confor

37、m to the quality of product established by this specification. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the applicable acceptable quality levels. 3.15 Date of manufacture. When required by the procurement document, the textile manufacturer shall properly identify the age of the textile materials b

38、y placing a tag on the finished goods, or label the container, identifying the specification to which the material is manufactured, the lot number and the date of manufacture. The date of manufacture is defined as the date (month and year) of the last manufacturing process that affects the physical

39、characteristics of the material. 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Classification of inspection. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.2) b. Conformance inspection (see 4.3). 4.2 First article inspection. The first article, submitted in accordan

40、ce with 3.1, shall be inspected as specified in 4.3 through 4.7 for compliance with design, construction, workmanship and dimensional requirements. 4.3 Conformance inspection. Sampling for inspection shall be performed as specified in ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 - Sampling Procedures and Tables for Inspection of

41、Attributes unless otherwise specified in the contract or order. 4.3.1 Component and material inspection. In accordance with 4.1 above, components and materials shall be inspected in accordance with all the requirements of referenced specifications, drawings, and standards unless otherwise excluded,

42、amended, modified, or qualified in this specification or applicable procurement documents. 4.4 Responsibility of compliance. All items shall meet all requirements of Sections 3 and 4. The inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or q

43、uality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies, submitted to the Government for acceptance, comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling in quality conformance

44、does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to accept defective material. 4.5 Certificates of Compliance. Where Certificates of Compliance are submitted in accordance with TABLES II and V, they shall contain verifiable actu

45、al test and inspection data. The Government reserves the right to inspect such items to determine the validity of the certification. PIA-W-5664B Page 7 of 13 4.6 Component certification for Type I, Class 4. A Certificate of Compliance may be acceptable as evidence that the characteristics listed in

46、TABLE II conform to the specified requirements. TABLE II Component certification. 4.7 End item examination. 4.7.1 Yard-by-yard examination. The required yardage of each spool shall be inspected on both sides and visual defects classified as listed in TABLE III. All defects found shall be counted reg

47、ardless of their proximity to each other, except where two or more defects represent a single local condition of the webbing, in which case only the more serious defect shall be counted. A continuous defect shall be counted as one defect for each warpwise yard or fraction thereof in which it occurs.

48、 The lot size shall be expressed in yards. The sample unit shall be 1 linear yard. The sample size shall be in accordance with inspection level III in ANSI/ASQ Z1.4, Table I: Sample size code letters. The Acceptance Quality Limit (AQL), expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 1.5 f

49、or major defects and 4.0 for total (major and minor combined) defects, see ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 Table II-A, Single sampling plan for normal inspection- Master Table. The number of spools from which the sample yardage is to be selected shall be in accordance with TABLE IV. The sample yardage shall be apportioned equally among the selected spools.
