SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of sheet and plate. 1.2 Application These products have been used typically for structural components, including machined parts subject to excessive warpage during machining, but usage is not limited to such applications. 1

7、.2.1 Certain design and processing procedures may cause these products to become susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking; ARP823 recommends practices to minimize such conditions. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The issue of the following documents in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of

15、ermitted without license from IHS-,-,-SAE AMS4045K Page 3 of 63.2 Condition The product shall be supplied in the following condition; heat treatments shall be performed in accordance with AMS2772: 3.2.1 Sheet Solution and precipitation heat treated to temper T6 (See AS1990). 3.2.2 Plate Solution hea

16、t treated, stretched to produce a nominal permanent set of 2% but not less than 1-1/2% nor more than 3%, and precipitation heat treated to temper T651 (See AS1990). 3.2.2.1 Plate shall receive no further straightening operations after stretching. 3.3 Properties The product shall conform to the follo

22、 inches (101.60 mm) in nominal thickness shall be as agreed upon by purchaser and vendor. 3.3.2 Bending Product 0.008 to 0.499 inch (0.20 to 12.67 mm), inclusive, in nominal thickness shall withstand, without cracking, bending at room temperature through an angle of 180 degrees around a diameter equ

23、al to the bend factor shown in Table 3 times the nominal thickness of the product with axis of bend parallel to the direction of rolling. 25、nominal thickness shall be as agreed upon by purchaser and vendor. 3.4 Quality The product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the product. 3.4.1 When specified, each plate 0.500 i

26、nch (12.70 mm) and over in nominal thickness shall be ultrasonically inspected in accordance with ASTM B 594 and shall meet the requirements of 3.4.1.1 as applicable. 3.4.1.1 Plates weighing 2000 pounds (907 kg) and under shall meet the requirements for ultrasonic class shown in Table 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The vendor of the product shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmato

29、ry testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms to specified requirements. 30、ceptance Tests Composition (3.1), tensile properties (3.3.1), and tolerances (3.5) and, when specified, ultrasonic soundness (3.4.1) are acceptance tests and except for composition, shall be performed on each lot. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Bending (3.3.2) is a periodic test and shall be performed at a fr

31、equency selected by the vendor unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 4.4 Reports The vendor of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report stating that the product conforms to the composition and tolerances, and

32、 showing numerical results of tests for the other acceptance test requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, lot number, AMS4045K, size, and quantity. The report shall also identify the producer, the product form, and the size of the mill product. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting

33、 Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be in accordance with ASTM B 666/B 666M. 5.2 Protective Treatment Flat sheet, plate, and circles 12 inches (305 mm) and over in nominal diameter shall be oiled, prior to shipment, with a light corrosion-inhibi

34、ting oil. Circles under 12 inches (305 mm) in nominal diameter shall be protected as agreed upon by purchaser and vendor. 5.3 Packaging 5.3.1 The product shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with ASTM B 660 and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, p

35、ackaging, and transportation of the product to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A vendor shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Product not conforming to this specification,

36、 or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection.
