5、al Electrical Code, NFPA 70.SH1.2 These devices are intended for use with copper conductors only.SH1.3 These devices are only intended for use on 15- or 20-Ampere, 125-V AC only branch circuits.SH2 GlossarySH2.1 For the purpose of this supplement, the following definitions apply.SH2.2 MAGNETICALLY C

9、ing requirements contained in this Standard,a magnetically coupled cord connector and inlet shall also comply with the applicable requirements for itsindividual parts as described in Sections SH3.2 SH11.1.SH3.2 The magnetically coupled cord connector assembly shall be constructed so that voltage,amp
10、erage, device configuration and polarity are consistent throughout the complete assembly.SH3.3 A magnetically coupled connector assembly shall have only one outlet supplied from one set of lineblades.SH4 Electrical RatingSH 4.1 A magnetically coupled cord connector assembly shall be rated either 15
11、A, 125 V AC or 20 A,125 V AC only.SH5 Accessibility of Live PartsSH5.1 Accessibility of live parts shall comply with UL 498 para. 9.1.4 in both the coupled and uncoupledpositions. Magnetically coupled connector assembly shall not be relied upon to provide and render parts“de-energized”.Exception: Pe
12、rmanent magnets used in combination with electronic circuitry may be used to render parts“de-energized” provided such electronic circuitry complies with the Standard for Safety-Related ControlsEmploying Solid-State Devices, UL 991. If the computational investigation is conducted, the maximumfailure
13、rate (l) shall not exceed 1.5 failures per million hours. If the demonstrated method is conducted,the test acceleration multiplier shall be 5763.SH6 Environmental ProtectionSH6.1 A magnetically coupled cord connector assembly shall be marked with a Type designation andcomply with the one of the Type
14、 designation identified in UL 498 Supplement SB Enclosure Types forEnvironmental Protection.SH6.2 A magnetically coupled cord connector assembly that is provided with a spring-closing cover shallalso comply with the Spring-Closing Cycling test as described in SH10.SH7 Internal Splices and Connection
15、sSH7.1Internal splices and connections shall be mechanically secure and shall provide electrical continuitywithout strain on connections and terminals.SH7.2 A soldered connection shall be made mechanically secure before being soldered.PERFORMANCESH8 GeneralSH8.1 A magnetically coupled cord connector

17、 cord connector assembly shall be subjected to testsas described in SH8.3 through SH10.SH8.3 The switching means of a magnetically coupled cord connector assembly shall also comply withthe Contact Gap, Overload, Endurance No. 1 (Inductive - 6000 cycles), Endurance No. 2 (Tungsten - 6000cycles), Temp
18、erature, and Contact Gap (repeated) tests contained in the Standard for Flush Switches, UL20. These tests shall be performed based upon the marked ampere and voltage rating of the magneticallycoupled cord connector assembly.SH9 Component Failure TestSH9.1 A magnetically coupled cord connector assemb
19、ly shall not become a shock or fire hazard whenoperating while in an abnormal condition, such as with a short-circuited or open-circuited component.Each component whose failure can result in a likelihood of risk of electric shock, risk of fire, or both, shallbe tested by imposing a fault on the comp
20、onent which simulates the typical failure mode for thecomponent. Examples of failure modes may include: diodes fail open or short circuit, electrolyticcapacitors fail open circuit, or partial short circuit.SH9.2 A single layer of cheesecloth is to be loosely draped over the magnetically coupled cord
21、 connectorassembly. A 1-A fuse is to be connected between the grounded supply conductor and accessibleconductive parts of the device.SH9.3 The cheesecloth mentioned in SH9.2 shall be bleached cheesecloth running approximately 26 - 28square meters per kilogram mass (14 - 15 square yards per pound mas
22、s), and having for any squarecentimeter, 13 threads in one direction and 11 in the other direction (what is known in the trade as acount of 32 by 28, that is, for any square inch, 32 threads in one direction and 28 threads in the otherdirection).SH9.4 A magnetically coupled cord connector assembly o
23、perating under abnormal conditions will beconsidered to have become a hazard if:a) There is glowing or flaming of the cheesecloth mentioned in SH9.2, orb) There is emission of molten metal, orc) The fuse mentioned in SH9.2 operates to open the circuit, ord) It is possible to touch an energized part
24、with the articulated probe shown in Figure 9.1, ore) There is any other evidence of hazard.SH10 Spring-Closing Cycling TestSH10.1 When subjected to the cycling test described in SH10.2 a spring-closing cover shall not crack,deform, or otherwise be damaged so as to allow the entrance of water as veri
25、fied by the appropriateenvironmental test as described in UL 498 Supplement SB Enclosure Types for EnvironmentalProtection.SH10.2 A spring-closing cover shall be subjected to 1000 cycles of operation. One cycle of operation isconsidered to be complete opening of the cover followed by allowing the co
