Scope*1.1 This specification covers lightweight aggregates in

3、-tended for use in concrete not exposed to the weather, in whichthe prime consideration is the thermal insulating property ofthe resulting concrete.1.2 The text of this standard references notes and footnoteswhich provide explanatory material. Classification4.1 Two general types of lightweight aggregate are coveredby this specification as follows:4.1.1 Group IAggregates prepared by expanding productssuch as perlite

11、 or vermiculite.NOTE 1These aggregates generally produce concrete having a densityfrom 15 to 50 lb/ft3(240 to 800 kg/m3), the thermal conductivity of whichmay be expected to range from 0.45 to 1.50 Btuin/hft2F (0.065 to 0.22W/mK).4.1.2 Group IIAggregates prepared by expanding,calcining, or sintering

12、 products such as blast-furnace slag, clay,diatomite, fly ash, shale, or slate; and aggregates prepared byprocessing natural materials, such as pumice, scoria, or tuff.NOTE 2These aggregates generally produce concrete having a densityfrom 45 to 90 lb/ft3(720 to 1440 kg/m3), the thermal conductivity

If the fineness modulus of the aggregate differs bymore than 7 % from that of the sample submitted foracceptance, the aggregate is subject to rejection, unless thesupplier demonstrates that it will produce concrete of therequired

20、characteristics.5.3 Loose Bulk Density (Test Method C29/C29M)The dryloose bulk density of lightweight aggregates shall conform tothe requirements shown in Table 2.5.3.1 Uniformity of Loose Bulk DensityThe dry loose bulkdensity of successive shipments of lightweight aggregates shallnot differ by more

21、 than 10 % from that of the sample submittedfor acceptance.6. Sampling and Testing for Aggregate Properties6.1 Sample lightweight aggregates and determine the prop-erties enumerated in this specification in accordance with thefollowing methods:6.1.1 SamplingPractice D75/D75M, except samplebagged mat

30、erties7.1 Determine the density and thermal conductivity of theconcrete in accordance with the following methods:7.1.1 Specimen PreparationPrepare three specimens foreach type of test, applying the same composition and fabrica-tion procedure as is proposed for use. Moist-cure the speci-mens for 7 da

31、ys and then remove them from the moist roomand store at a temperature of 73.4 6 3F(236 1.7 C) and ata relative humidity of 50 6 5 % until the time of test. Dry thespecimens at the age of 28 days in an oven at 230 6 18 F (1106 10 C) and weigh them at 24-h intervals until the loss inmass does not exce

32、ed 1 % in a 24-h period.7.1.2 Concrete DensityDetermine the density from speci-mens each of which has a volume of not less than 0.1 ft3(2 L).Determine the mass and dimensions of the oven-dry specimensand compute the volume and the density from the average dataobtained.7.1.3 Thermal ConductivityDeter

33、mine the thermal con-ductivity in accordance with Test Method C177, except prepareand cure the specimens in accordance with 7.1.1. The dimen-sions of the specimens shall be as required for the testingequipment available. Report the details of the composition andfabrication procedure used in preparin

34、g the specimens.8. Rejection and Rehearing8.1 Material that fails to conform to the requirements of thisspecification is subject to rejection. Rejection shall be reportedto the producer or supplier promptly and in writing. In case ofdissatisfaction with the result of the test, the producer orsupplie

35、r shall make claim for a rehearing.8.2 The purchaser of materials covered by this specificationshall have the option of evaluating these materials for rejectionby either minimum mass or approximate volume as stated.8.3 Individual packages are subject to rejection when:8.3.1 The contents, on a mass b

36、asis, are 5 % less than thatindicated on the package, or8.3.2 The contents, on a volume basis, are 10 % less thanthat indicated on the package.8.4 The entire shipment is subject to rejection.8.4.1 On a mass basis when the average contents of twopackages for each 100, but not less than 6 packages sel

37、ected atrandom, in any one shipment, are less than that indicated on thepackage.8.4.2 On a volume basis when the average contents of twopackages for each 100, but not less than 6 packages selected atrandom, in any one shipment differ by more than 5 % from thatindicated on the package.8.5 The net mas

38、s of the contents shall be determined byweighing the package or packages and deducting the mass ofthe container.8.6 The bulk volume of the contents in a package shall becalculated by determining the mass of the contents of thepackage and dividing by the bulk density of the aggregate. Thebulk density

39、 of the aggregate shall be determined in accordancewith the shoveling procedure given in Test Method C29/C29Musing material from one or more of the packages selected in8.4.2.9. Certification9.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, aproducers or suppliers certification shall be furnished

40、 to thepurchaser that the material was manufactured, sampled, tested,and inspected in accordance with this specification and hasbeen found to meet the requirements. When specified in thepurchase order or contract, a report of the test results shall befurnished.10. Packaging and Package Marking10.1 W

41、hen lightweight aggregates covered by this specifi-cation are delivered in packages, the name of the manufacturer,type of aggregate, and minimum mass and approximate vol-ume of the contents shall be plainly indicated thereon.11.
