Controllingmicroimagedensityhelpstoensurethatgoodresultsareobtained.Theoverallqualityofthemaster directlyaffectsduplicatequality. Sincefirst

18、generationsilverfilmdensitiescanbemeasuredusingregulardensitometers,amethodhadtobefound formeasuringdiazoandvesicularfilmduplicatingfilmsinadditiontosilver-gelatinfilms.Inthecurrentstateofthe art,onlyamethodforvisualdensityhasbeendeveloped. Visualdensityshouldnotbeconfusedwithprintingdensity.Theform

27、formancewiththerequirementsofISO5-2andISO5-3for measurementofISOstandardprojectiondensityf/4,5typeandhavingasamplingapertureofdiameter0,5mmto 3,0mm. 4.3 Measurementareas 4.3.1 Samplingaperture Eachareameasuredshouldbeofevendensityandcompletelycoverthesamplingapertureofthedensitometer. 4.3.2 Useofden

28、sitypatches Densityisgenerallymeasuredonasinglearea.However,ifdensitiesoftheimagesdonotappearuniform throughoutthemicroform,itisrecommendedtocarryoutmeasurementsondifferentimageareasthroughoutthe microform,withparticularattentionbeingpaidtolowestdensityareas. Minimumdensityofdirectpositivesilverandn

29、egative-appearingdiazoduplicates,andmaximumdensityof (positive-appearingdiazo)andvesicularduplicatesshouldpreferablybemeasuredonanimage,incompliancewith ISO6200,ofa6%reflectancepatchcomprisingpartofatesttargetfilmedontheoriginalmicroform. Intheabsenceofareflectivepatch,measurementsmaybemadebetweenim

30、agesalthoughthesemaydiffer slightlyfromthoseobtainedfroma6%patch. Atargetareamaybeprovidedforthispurposewhenmakingfirstgenerationmicroforms. 5 Visualdiffusetransmissiondensityofduplicatemicroformsfromsourcedocuments andCOM 5.1 Silver-gelatinduplicates 5.1.1 Positive-appearingduplicates Silver-gelati
