During each period of continuous heat treatment not exceeding8 hours, at least one test sample shall be selected. This test sample

20、shall be either one of the pins of the largest diameter that have been heat treated during this period, or a length of wire from which these pins have been made and which has been hardened and tempered with the pins represented. b) Pins hardened by a continuous process or in batches, and tempered in

24、hen the dimensions of a test sample are such that an impact test cannot be made from it, a nicked fracture test shall be made instead. The test shall be made as follows: The test sample shall be nicked or sawn so that the area of the portion to be fractured is not less than one-half of the original

25、sectional area and shall be broken by the least possible number of blows. The fractured surfaces shall be free from defects. 14 Re-tests If any test piece fails to meet the mechanical test requirements, two further samples, selected as in Clause12, shall be submitted to the mechanical tests specifie

26、d in Clause13. If either of these test pieces fails to meet the mechanical test specified the pins represented may be rejected or, at the request of the manufacturer, shall be re-heat treated and re-tested in accordance with Clauses12 and 13 15 Hardness test a) A Brinell or a diamond pyramid hardnes
