10、cedure for Use 5.1 Preparation 5.1.1 Test Target. The standard test target for illumin- ation uniformity is prepared for the reduction ratio to be employed in accordance with Section 4.8 The target is to be placed “face up” on the copyboard of the camera and oriented according to the manufacturers c

11、amera recommendations. Each Element 2, as specified in 4.1.2, shall be provided with the appropriate sequential numeral(s) measuring a minimum of 50 mm (approximately 2 inches) high and showing the reduction ratio. Element 4 of the test target sha be provided with letters and numerals conforming to

12、4.1.4, showing date and camera identification. May be mork tape, or may be drawn with a high density, black opaque, nongiossy marker. This will help densitometer operators locate the microimages of Element 2 on subsequent microfh frames. Element 2s can be incorporated as part of Element 1, by the us

13、e of peripheral borders (outlines), if the object (test) areas of Element 1 designated as Element 2s conform to the reflectance percentage tolerances given in 4.1.2. 2 AIIM MS2b 90 W 2595532 00b7bb 3 W 5.1.2 Camera. The 35 mm planetary camera to be tested is set to the appropriate focus and reductio

14、n ratio by following the manufacturers recommended procedures. The illumination of the room is to be adjusted in accor- dance with the recommendations of camera manufacturers and standard operating procedures dictated by the users facility. Room lighting should be subdued and should not give rise to

15、 reflections from, or hot spots on, the test target. The camera is to be loaded with film normally used. 5.2 Test Frame Exposure. The level of illumination is to be set in accordance with camera manufacturers recom- mendations. An exposure series is made, incrementally pro- gressing from under- to o

16、verexposure. The film strip is pro- cessed in the che the recommendation of the camera manufacturer should be followed. The opti- cal density values of any two adjacent images of Element 2s of the test frame cannot differ by more than O. 10 density units and, to assure uniformity of illurnination, a

17、n adjust- ment of the camera lights is also required. Since it may not be possible to alter the illumination distribution without af- fecting the illumination of the center Element 2 of the test target, a new exposure series will have to be obtained after the adjustments to the camera lights have be

18、en completed. The procedure, as specified in 5.1.1 and 5.1.2, is repeated until the optical visual density of the microfilm images of Element 2s of the test target for illumination uniformity conform to the uniform density requirements of the previous paragraph.
