Each Element 2, as specified in 4.1.2, shall be provided with the appropriate sequential numeral(s) measuring a minimum of 50 mm (approximately 2 inches) high and showing the reduction ratio. Element 4 of the test target sha be provided with letters and numerals conforming to

The illumination of the room is to be adjusted in accor- dance with the recommendations of camera manufacturers and standard operating procedures dictated by the users facility. Room lighting should be subdued and should not give rise to

The level of illumination is to be set in accordance with camera manufacturers recom- mendations. An exposure series is made, incrementally pro- gressing from under- to o

The opti- cal density values of any two adjacent images of Element 2s of the test frame cannot differ by more than O. 10 density units and, to assure uniformity of illurnination, a

Since it may not be possible to alter the illumination distribution without af- fecting the illumination of the center Element 2 of the test target, a new exposure series will have to be obtained after the adjustments to the camera lights have be

The procedure, as specified in 5.1.1 and 5.1.2, is repeated until the optical visual density of the microfilm images of Element 2s of the test target for illumination uniformity conform to the uniform density requirements of the previous paragraph.
