If a 16 mm reel wili be used in a cartridge for use in automatic threading equipment,

17、ensions of lightweight reels made of plastic or metal used for the storage and retrieval of processed 16 mm and 35 mm microfilm that is used in manually threaded equipment. Camera spools are also frequently used for storing pro- cessed microfilm. The dimensions for these spools are not included in t

21、side surface of the flange shall be in the same plane as the location surface around the square spindle hole. The ailowable deviation from this align- ment, measured within 3.2 mm (0,126 inch) of the core, shall be k0.25 mm (0.010 inch). The minimum diameter of the location surface around the square
22、 spindle hole shall be 15.9 mm (0.626 inch), the maximum diameter shall be 17.0 mm (0.669 inch). These specifications apply to front and rear flanges if both have square spindle holes. (See Figures 1 and 2, in addition to Table 1.) 3.2 35 mm Reels. The position of the inside surface of the flange wi
23、th respect to the location surface around the square spindle hole shall be 1.0 f 0.5 mm (0.039 inch f 0.020 inch). The minimum diameter of the location surface around the square spindle hole shall be 15.9 mm (0.626 inch), the maximum diameter shall be 17.0 mm (0.669 inch). These specifications apply
24、 to front and rear flanges if both have square spindle holes. (See Figures 1 and 2, in addition to Table 1.) 3.3 Lateral Runout. The lateral runout (wobble) of the reel from the intended plane of rotation shall not exceed 1.3 mm (0.052 inch). The “intended plane” is a plane perpen- dicular to the ax
25、is of the spindle and coincident with the outer surface of the flange at points adjacent to the spin- dle. When the reel is rotated on an accurate tighf-fitting spindle, the outward or inward excursion of the flange from this intended plane shall not exceed 1.3 mm (0.052 inch). 3.4 Flanges. The flan
26、ges may be either solid or spoked (with open areas). 3.5 Finish. The reel shall be free of any flashing or molding lines that would interfere with the film transport or cause damage to the film. 3.6 Optional Features. An optional film loading slot is allowed in the reel core. If used, the width of t
27、his slot shall conform to dimension K (see Figure 1, in addition to Table 1). An optional film loading slot is also permitted in either one or both flanges.
