INTRODUCTION The intent of this procedure is to assure that the coupling mechanism of a connector set or connector-device combination will withstand the axial loads likely to be applied during normal service. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS Test or inspection requirements may i

APPARATUS The assembled

16、 test apparatus shall be capable of applying an axial load between the connector adapter or device adapter and cap or coupling nut. An example of a test apparatus is shown in Figure 1. All or some of the following apparatus components are required. 3.1 applying the specified force at the specified r

17、ate. FORCE GENERATOR. Use any suitable device that is capable of smoothly 3.2 generator to the connector or device adapter cap or coupling nut. CLAMPING DEVICE. Use a suitable clamping device to couple the force 3.3 specimen by its normal mounting means. SPECIMEN MOUNT. Use a specimen mount which wi

18、ll permit mounting the 3.4 in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. TORQUE WRENCH. Use a torque wrench to assemble screw-type connectors 4. SAMPLING AND SPECIMENS 4.1 SAMPLING. Unless otherwise specified in the Detail Specification, select the test specimens randomly from the lot(s) being

19、tested and according to the schedule in the Detail Specification. 4.2 SPECIMENS. Unless otherwise specified in the Detail Specification, each test specimen shall be one of the following: (a) a plug-adapter-plug combination for connectors, or (b) a plug-adapter for device adapters. Unless otherwise s

20、pecified, each specimen shall be assembled according to the manufacturers instructions. The inclusion of fiber and cable is optional. 5. PROCEDURE 5.1 PREPARE SPECIMENS. Mate each specimen set according to the manufacturers instructions. For screw-type couplings, use a torque wrench to ensure that c

21、ouplings are tightened in accordance with the manufacturers specification. 5.2 PRECONDITIONING. Unless otherwise specified in the Detail Specification, precondition each prepared specimen for a period of 4 hours at the standard test conditions specified in ELAITIA-455A. Securely mount one portion of the specimen (plug, adapter, or devi

23、ce adapter) to the base of the apparatus. Fix the other specimen part to be tested (usually the coupling nut) to the moveable portion of the force generator. 5.4 TENSILE LOADING. Smoothly apply the tensile force to the connector at the specified rate and up to the specified maximum value. Unless oth

24、erwise specified, maintain the load for a minimum period of 15 seconds. 5.5 POST TEST EXAMINATION. Remove the tensile load and remove the test specimen from the mounting. Uncouple the specimen. Unless otherwise specified, -. visually examine specimens and their component parts in accordance with the

25、 requirements of FOTP-13. Check for evidence of cracking, permanent deformation or other damage which might impair its function, and any other pass/fail criteria that may be specified in the Detail Specification. 8. CALCULATIONS OR INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS (Not Required) 7. DOCUMENTATION 7.1 Report

26、 the following information for each test: 7.1.1 Date of test, 7.1.2 7.1.3 Test results, 7.1.4 Deviations from prescribed test procedure. 7.2 United States military applications require that the following information also be reported for each test. For other (non-military) applications this informati

27、on need not be reported, but shall be available for review upon request: 7.2.1 Test personnel, 7.2.2 Brief description of test apparatus and date of latest calibration, 7.2.3 Description of test sample.
