Samples, when furnished, are solely for guidance and information to the contractor (see 6.3). Variations from this document may appear in the sample, in w

15、hich case the document shall govern. 3.2 First article. When specified in the contract or purchase order, a sample shall be subjeoted to first article inspection (see 4.3, 6.2, and 6.4). 3.3 Materials. 3.3.1 in 3.5. Cotton yarn. The yarns shall be cotton yarns in the sizes specified 3.3.2 Rayon or n

16、ylon yarn. The yarns shall be multifilament bright or semi-dull rayon (2 ply) (cuprammonium or viscose) or nylon (singles) of a suitable denier to meet the requirements of this document. 3.3.3 Mohair yarn. The mohair used shall be not lower in grade than 28s and shall be carded, combed, and spun on

17、the worsted system and twisted into 2/30 (2 1 count) yarn. * 3.3.4 .Polyester yarn. The yarns shall.be spun, textured, or filament polyester in the sizes specified in 3.5. 3.3.5 Thread. The cotton thread shall be dyed Blue, AB, CA 66044, as .isted in the Department of Defense Standard Shades for Sew

18、ing Threads see 2.21, and shall conform to type IA3, ticket No. 50, 3 ply of V-T-276. The cotton thread shall show fastness to perspiration, wet dry cleaning, and light equal to or better than the standard sample (see 6.31, or shall show “good! fastness to perspiration, wet dry cleaning, and light.

19、* 3.4 Color. The color or colors of the dyed braids and laces shall be as listed in table I. The yarns for the braids and woven laces shall be yarn dyed. The use of dyes and compounds containing elementary sulfur capable of oxidation to sulfuric aci

23、d is prohibited. The dyestuff shall be chosen and applied so that the dyed and finished braids and laces shall contain no more labile sulfur than shown by the standard sample when tested as specified in 4.4.3. When a standard sample is not available, the - dyed and finished braids and laces shall sh

24、ow no more than a slight trace of labile sulfur as defined in the test method specified in 4.4.3. 3.4.2 .Matching. The colors of the finished braids and woven laces shall match the standard sample when viewed under filtered tungsten lamps that approximate artificial daylight and that have a correlat

25、ed color temperature of 7500 2 200K, with illumination of 100 2 20 foot candles, and shall be a good match to the standard sample under incandescent lamplight at 2300 2 200K. * 3,4.3 Colorfastness. The dyed and finished braids and woven laces shall show fastness to perspiration, wet dry cleaning and

26、 light equal to or better than the standard sample or equal to or better than a rating of llgoodll. In addition to the above requirements, dyed and finished polyester braid and woven laces shall show fastness to dry heat equal to or better than the standard sample or equal to or better than a rating

27、 of llgood.ll The dyed and finished braids and woven laces shall show fastness to crocking equal to or better than the standard sample or shall have an AATCC Chromatic Transference Scale rating not lower than 2.5. The soutache cover

34、shall be made of rayon or nylon yarns braided around two cotton warp ends. Each cotton warp end shall be a 20/3/4-ply cord or equal. requirements in table III. The soutache shall conform to the physical 3.5.2 Type I, class 2. The flat braid section and the cord shall be braided together in one opera

35、tion on a cord-edge braider. 3.5.2.1 Cord cover. The cord cover shall be composed of rayon or nylon yarns (see 3.3.2) braided around a braided core (see 3.5.2.1 1) and shall conform to the physical requirements in table III. * 3.5.2.1.1 .Core. The core cover shall be braided with not coarser than 38

36、/2 cotton yarn around a cotton stuffer. The cotton yarn for the stuffer shall be not coarser than 10/1 and shall match the color of the cover yarns. The core shall conform to the physical requirements in table III. - 3.5.2.2 Flat braid. The flat braid section shall be braided with not coarser than 2

37、8/2 nor finer than 32/2 cotton yarn, dyed Blue 173, and shall conform to the physical requirements in table III. 3.5.3 Type I, class 3. The I/2-inch braid and the l-l/h-inch braid shall be stitched together using stitch type 304 and seam type FSa-1 conforming to FED-STD-751 using thread type IA3 (se

The 1/2-inch braid shall conform to the physical requirements in table III. * 3.5.3.2 Braid, l-l/Q-inch. The braid shall be composed of mohair

40、yarn (see 3.3.3) and cotton yarn approximately 40/2. be composed of polyester yarn (see 3.3.4) 150/2 denier warp, 20/2 count filling, and 70 denier catch-cord (nominal yarn size). .
