In the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein, the text of this document shall t

18、ake precedence. Nothing in this document, however, shall supersede applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3 REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Guide samples. Guide samples of the end item are solely for guidance and information to the contractor (see 6.3). Variation from this d

19、ocument may appear in the sample, in which case this document shall govern. 3.2 First article. When specified in the contract or purchase order, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.3, 6.2, and 6.4). 3.3 Materials. (See 6.5) 3.3.1 Cloth, duck, nylon. The 7.25 ounce nylon du

20、ck shall conform to type III, class 3 of MIL-C-7219. The color shall be Olive Green 106. 3.3.2 Cloth, nylon. The 3.8 ounce nylon cloth shall be Olive Green 106, water repellent, conforming to MIL-C-43128. 3.3.3 Cloth, acrylic fiber pile. The cloth for lining the canteen cover shall conform to class

21、1 or 3 of MIL-C-43251 except that the requirements for color matching, dullness, and colorfastness shall not apply. 3.3.4 Fastener tape, hook and pile. The hook and pile nylon tape fastener shall be dyed Olive Green 106 and shall conform to type II, class 1, 5/8 inch width of MIL-F-21840. 3.3.5 Webb

22、ing, nylon. 3.3.5.1 3/4 inch and 2 1/4 inch widths. . The 3/4 inch and 2 1/4 inch nylon webbing shall be dyed Olive Drab 7 and shall conform to types Ia and XXVIII, respectively, of MIL-W-4088. 3.3.5.1.1 Treatment. The types Ia and XXVIII nylon webbing shall be resin impregnated to conform to class

23、R of MIL-W-27265. 3.3.5.2 1 inch width. The 1 inch nylon webbing used for the reinforcement shall conform to class 2 of MIL-W-17337. The color shall be Olive Drab 7. 3.3.6 Tape, nylon. The nylon binding tape shall be dyed Olive Drab 7 and shall conform to type III, 1 inch of MIL-T-5038. 4 Provided b

The thread for all stitching shall conform to type I, class 1, sub-class B, size E of V-T-285. 3.3.7.1 Color. The thread shall be dyed

25、 Olive Drab S-1 (C.A. 66022) and shall show fastness to weathering equal to or better than the standard sample. If no standard sample is available, the thread shall show good fastness to weathering. 3.3.8 Fastener, plastic. The plastic fastener shall be black and shall conform to MIL-F-43514. 3.3.9

26、Eyelet, aluminum black. The black enameled aluminum eyelet shall conform to dash No.-ABE 131 of MIL-E-20652/1. 3.3.10 Ring, dee. The dee ring shall conform to class 1 or class 2, configuration A, 25/32 inch by 3/8 inch of MIL-R-3390. 3.3.11 Keeper with slide. The keeper with slide shall conform to t

27、ype X of MIL-H-9890. 3.3.12 Sling. The sling shall conform to type I of MIL-S-1698. 3.4 Construction. The construction shall conform in all respects to Drawings 2-2-279 through 2-2-281 and as specified herein. 3.4.1 Stitches, seams, and stitching. All machine stitching except bartacking shall confor

28、m to FED-STD-751. All stitching except bartacking shall be stitch type 301, 8 to 10 stitches per inch. 3.4.1.1 Automatic stitching. Any of the stitching operations cited in this document may be performed with an automatic machine provided that the requirements for stitch pattern, stitches per inch,

29、and size and types of thread are met and that at least three tying, overlapping, or back stitches are used to secure the ends of stitching. 3.4.1.2 Type 301 Stitching. Ends of all stitching except box and w-w shall be backstitched or backtacked not less than 1 inch at the ends, except where ends are

30、 caught in other seams and stitching. On box and W-W stitching, all ends shall be backstitched or backtacked 1/2 inch. Thread tension shall be maintained so that there will be no loose or tight stitching and the lock will be embedded in the sewed material. Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproductio

When thread breaks, skipped stitches, run-Offs, or bobbin run-outs occur during sewing, the stitching shall be repaired by restarting the

32、 stitching a minimum of 1 inch (i/Z inch for box and W-W stitching) back of the end of the stitching. L( b. Thread breaks, or two or more consecutive skipped or run-off stitches, noted during inspection of the item (in-process or end item) shall be repaired by overstitching. The stitching shall star

33、t a minimum of 1 inch in back of the defective area (1/2 inch for box and W-W stitching), continue over the defective area and continue a minimum of 1 inch (1/2 inch for box and W-W stitching) beyond the defective area onto the existing stitching. Loose or excessively tight stitching shall be repair

34、ed by removing the defective stitching, without damaging the materials and restitching in the required manner. lJ L/ When making the above repairs, the ends of the stitching are not required to be backstitched. n 3.4.1.3 Bartacking. Unless otherwise specified, bartacks shall be as listed in table I.

36、d to 1/4 inch maximum length. 3.4.1.5 Lubrication of thread. 37、4.2 Eyelet, aluminum. A hole shall be prepunched through the nylon duck and acrylic fiber pile cloth before inserting the eyelet barrel. The prepunched hole for receiving the eyelet shall be smaller than the outside diameter of the barrel of the eyelet so that the eyelet barrel must be forced throug

38、h the hole. The eyelet shall be installed using score setting dies conforming to J.C. Rhodes part No. 1-KW-1KL and 101Y-lKlom, or Stimpson Co., part No. A2744-7 score, or equal (see 6.6). The eyelets shall be securely set in a manner that will prevent detachment from or cutting of the surrounding ma

39、terial. The scored side of the eyelet shall be on the inside of the assembly. 3.4.3 Setting of plastic fastener. Holes for assembling the fastener components shall be prepunched or predrilled and shall be smaller than the diameter of the posts of the latch and latch receptacle components so that the

40、 posts must be forced through the holes. Surfaces around the holes shall be free of uncut thread ends when prepunched and shall be free of melted residue when predrilled. The posts shall be securely set to provide a tight clinch of the assembled components. 1 3.4.4 Repairs. Repairs such as mends, da

41、rns, patches, or splices are not permitted on the canteen cover. 3.5 Marking. The identification marking shall be applied in the location shown on Drawing 2-2-280 and shall conform to type IV, class 5 of DDD-L-20. The letters “US“ shall be applied in the size characters and in the location shown on

42、Drawing 2-2-281 and shall conform to type IV, class 9 of DDD-L-20. Fastness of the class 9 marking shall be as specified for class 5 marking. 3.5.1 Instruction label. An instruction label approximately 4 5/8 inches by 3 3/8 inches shall be sewn on the inside of the flap as indicated on Drawing 2-2-2

43、81, The label shall conform to type VI, class 7 of DDD-L-20 except that the color of the label shall be medium green and shall approximate . the Cable No. 70034, 70130, or 70131 as listed in the Standard Color Reference of America. The characters used in printing the label shall be of maximum .size

44、commensurate with the area and contents specified. 45、9C 3.5.1.1 Legend. The contents of the instruction label shall be as follows: FILLING INSTRUCTIONS Remove bladder and unscrew cap. blowing into it. Float empty bladder on side, holding neck of bladder with 1/3 to 1/2 of opening under water. totally submerge opening. Slowly submerge bladder as it fil

46、ls. If bladder collapses, remove from water allowing air to enter and proceed as above. To hasten filling, use a scooping motion with opening partially under water. Insert correct number of water purification tablets as directed on tablet bottle. Note: capacity of canteen is two quarts. To reduce sl

47、oshing noise of partially full canteen, squeeze to force water into neck and replace cap tightly. Wet the pile lining during hot weather to help keep water cool.
